Where to Buy: Steel Flywheel for JD 4430

I’m looking for a steel flywheel for a John Deere 4430. I am sticking with a wet clutch right now behind the factory 404. I foresee a 466 swap in the future so I’d like to get a steel flywheel that is set up for the 466. The way I understand is I can use it on the 404 and swap it to the 466 (add two bolts) when the time comes.
I’ve called: Kenny’s Pulling Parts (left a message with no returned call) Kentucky Clutch (answered phone and supposed to be getting back to me) Atlas (I plan to call them this week) Any other places I should call to find a flywheel? |

I don't know why a person would call anyone else. |

We run a Rursch wet clutch. I don't know what class you run but we put a billet input shaft in ours. We learned the hard way. |

I have a 4 disk atlas Wet Clutch that will be coming out in the next few weeks and will be for sale. 1/4" floaters that could be exhanged for thinner floaters to allow a additional disk(5th disk) Latest and Greatest from Karl and he was great for support. I am only removing as we have began to out run the clutch's capabilities. 6zero8-7three2-zero6five3 |

How much power do you think you’re making? Did the quad range give you any fits ? Was your input shaft stock ? |

I have seen this subject before, wet clutches for too much HP, what does it take to change over to dry clutch. How big of changes do I need, new brakes, different housing, thanks. |

A guy we pull with mated the front of a 4440 with a 4320 rear. Big job. We are at the iffy stage on HP for the wet clutch according to Rursch . I'm not sure what route we will take once we go over that hump. Maybe put our motor in a dry clutch chassis. |

I running an Urmson 4 speed (No quad) so i cannot speak on my own tractor. Also never been on a Dyno
A fellow tractor was running wet clutch/ Built 4430 quad(Direct and under)/original 4440 trans for some time running before having issues at that 1000+/- area. |

Just an update. I really appreciate the info and offers from everyone. I spoke to Rursch last week and called back today and placed my order. The gentleman on the phone was very good to deal with. |

Thanks for the update. I'm glad to hear they were good to work with. I'm sure we'll need some parts from them someday. Just for info. we run a 5 disk at 210psi. We have a gauge right by our shift lever. On ours building boost and letting her go is a little tricky with the wet clutch.
Have fun and good luck. |

Appreciate the info. This is a new to me tractor and is bone stock. I plan to work over the 404 a little for this year and if all goes well I will swap a 466 in for next year. In the name of safety I wanted a steel flywheel installed so I won’t have to worry about rpm and it will be a good base for the future. |
