What kinda hp does it take to run 8th gear in a 4020 get down in the end spin tires. 466 with a 2.6 turbo 20.8 under it. can switch to 18.4, limited rpm

Been there done that, need 800-1000 hp to run road gear.
If you can run road gear you have enough to break the trans. Run at your own risk. |

I believe 8th gear is held onto the shaft by a single key. I have heard of people triple keying the shaft or welding it on to help it hold. |

Been there and done it. Depending on weight may only need 600 ho. You will take the teeth off 8th. Did it twice in a month before I put a atlas 3 speed in. |

I was spinning 18.4s with 4010 finals somewhere around 800, I never broke the syncro but I had a feeling it wasn’t liking |
