Midwest Winter Nationals November 07, 2024 01:44AM
Have to admit it fell off my radar this year. I was asked about it yesterday and if I might go, didn't realize the registration was even open and don't remember much being said on here about it. Bit far for me to take my stuff now that it is in Cloverdale. Wish them luck on there new venue.

I have heard they are trying to find more mini rods. I see they added a small tire class now as well. I don't think the mini rod class is what most of the spectators are there for. I do wish they would change the rules to fit the tractors they allow in, even the playing field with a weight or hitch handicap, or enforce the rules they have. 370 cubic inch limit, no fuel injection, and 15 degree valve angle. Most of the tractors are over 370 (410-420), at least 1 has fuel injection, and a couple are in the 12-13 degree valve angle. I know several good tractors from WI that stay home because of this, a few have gone and decided not to go back because of it. some guys don't care but it is hard to pay 2-300 dollars for an entry fee and travel 7 hours knowing your on an unfair playing field and getting rushed through the pull because you are just a time filler. This is why he doesn't get much support from the Tri County club.

Maybe no support from the econo minis, but we are bringing 3 blown small blocks that we regularly run with the tri-co pullers. We pull against turbos and 8-71’s, but we still support all of the clubs. See ya all in 2 months!!❄️⛄️

I would also like to see a natural S.S, 360 cubic inch turbo diesel combo class. Like they used to in the past, i believe they called it light pro field or something along those lines.

Re: Midwest Winter Nationals November 07, 2024 01:04PM
The numbers vary do to pull location I think, Ship was a good location to draw minis from all over the upper midwest, Cloverdale is a bit of a haul for many from what I have heard. Rules are kind of like the LLSS class, not everyone is going to be pleased. Perry

Re: Midwest Winter Nationals November 08, 2024 01:27AM
Sorry I meant limited and econo. I know the Butsons are going, good luck down there Stacey and Perry.

I stayed away from class names because they are named different at this pull. I was just trying to point out the winner of the 1950 econo class every year but 1 if I remember is 420 cubic inches with fuel injection and heads that are 12 degree valve angles if I remember (guessing close to 800 horse running against 600 horse tractors). Not fair to the rest of the class. The first year they asked about letting him and the other bigger tractors pull with a handicap and the class agreed. The handicap was never put in place. No I am not calling anyone out or talking bad about a competitor, he will gladly tell you what he has. I am just trying to point out one of the reasons why some really good tractors stay away and I am hoping they consider leveling the playing field a bit.

Re: Midwest Winter Nationals November 11, 2024 02:02AM
For starters I'm not 420 get it right and I do not have fuel injection. Do better research and get facts correct its 410 cubic inch 4 barrel carb. I think sparky is the same we have same cylinder heads as well...

Re: Midwest Winter Nationals November 11, 2024 02:05AM
And I have been running a handicap lol I've usually been 75# less or more depending on scale..

Re: Midwest Winter Nationals November 11, 2024 02:14AM
Nordahl started this class also along with Kevin Moore I believe..the "wording " in the rules were supposed to be changed as well. bottom line its about asses in seats hell you got a small tire class idk y either should have been a 540in. Big block class instead way better show would have had at least a dozen or more .. just saying

Re: Midwest Winter Nationals November 11, 2024 02:17AM
I feel a sponsorship with Kleenex would do you well. free samples for everyone.

Re: Midwest Winter Nationals November 12, 2024 01:24AM
You can get upset if you want, but my point is rules are rules and you don't fit them (you just admitted it in your rant). It is talked about here all the time, why have rules if you won't enforce them?

Nordahl did not start the class, a concession was made to let him run in the class knowing he also did not fit the rules AKA handicap that was never put in place which opened the door for this issue.

Kevin started the class by sponsoring it and used Tri County's rules when he talked to Clint. My entire point was they need to update the rules or start enforcing them. It currently is not a level playing field and now it is more costly because of the travel for the new venue. I heard Clint asked Tri County to put a call out for more tractors to join I was just trying to explain why he has lost some support from the group in Wisconsin.

To be clear I am not against letting the bigger motors run in the class, it just needs to be fair for all. Like I said 800 plus horse power running against 600 horse power doesn't work out in this class. If your running 75 pounds light you'd be 1825 and have no moveable weight on the tractor so I am questioning that one a bit, I have seen your tractor it is not built light. I also don't know why he took the small tires over a big block class. That was there choice.

Re: Midwest Winter Nationals November 12, 2024 04:43AM
When Kevin started sponsoring the class he asked/invited me and some of the other cheater tractors to pull in the class knowing we would travel to help fill the class knowing that not enough Tri County ruled tractor would travel to fill the class. Every year this gets brought up and every year there is a mix of both rules in the finals. Trent Vander Veldon, Derek Griep, Mike Dietrich, Shannon Nelson (Tri County Ruled Machines) have all pulled with us at Dirt Flingers and have won on more than one occasion with a few others also finishing in the money several times. I'm not against trying a reasonable handicap, but the last I heard was taking a 1inch of draw bar away from us, I feel that is extreme since the distances have been fairly competitive. I'm thankful we've had the opportunity to pull at Klint's we'll run and organized events I'm also thankful for Kelvin Moore's past sponsorship of the class, as long as we're allowed to keep competing We'll continue to supporting these events. Re: Midwest Winter Nationals November 12, 2024 05:14AM
I would recommend letting Big Tires, carbureted 370cu.in., automatic transmission only (no gearbox slipper clutch drivelines) in the small tire class.

Re: Midwest Winter Nationals November 12, 2024 12:51PM
I was invited smart mouth.and was asked to come back..Feel free to step up.. as far as the weight its a 1950 class correct? you must not have passed math class 75 from 1950 I do believe is 1875. I can get as low as 1800 with 50 ish on the front so you obviously don't know much about anything.so Keep crying a river no biggie . these indoor pulls are about asses in seats nobody wants to watch slow under performance machines bottom line..
