Badger State LLSS November 13, 2024 02:14PM
Before the rules meeting happens for the year I would like to put a bug in their ear about allowing 470 cubic inch tractors in the badger state LLSS class without an intercooler. The 470 guys have been wanting to pull with you guys for awhile and I think you guys could use some more numbers in the class as most of the hooks had less than 10 tractors in the class. It is proven across the country that the 470 combination won't dominate and runs equal with the other combinations. And if there is worry about it then handicap them with less weight or smaller charger but atleast give them a chance to pull with you without them having to build a smaller motor.

I can pass on the information, but the guys that want this I wish you would come to the meeting in person. This would go over better that your there supporting this and become a member. It's not about just pulling a time or two. Meeting is December 7 at Noon at the Wilderness event center in the Dells.

I am just curious on this one because it confuses me. If the 470 is competitive with Badger States rules then why didn't you build to Badger States rules so you could pull competitive with both clubs? Bader States class has been around I am guessing just as long as most, but because one person or one club thought they knew better or didn't like someone they made different rules and now you want Badger State to change so you can pull with them occasionally?

You see it in many different clubs and many different classes. Just my opinion build for the club you want to run with and don't push the other clubs to change because you want to run with them, but not bad enough to build too there rules.

At least your not afraid of of playing with handicaps to make sure it is fair. Some people want to be let in knowing they are bigger with no handicap and can't figure out why they lost support from one group or another.

I am in know way connected to Badger State, the LLSS class, or speaking on behalf of any of them. This is just my opinion/question.

The club I pull with had similar situations even to the point someone bought a membership and showed up once just so they could recommend and vote on changing the rules, one went through and he never showed up again. Our numbers were down, was the argument and we need to keep up with the times. Luckily not much changed and the class is thriving again.

Both points are well taken. I am not for sure but I think the class is at that point, just like adding the alcohol tractors a few years back. But understand that if this would happen we need support through out the season not just a few times. We don't need tractors that show up when they feel like it, which doesn't help with season. Because promoters want numbers.

It seems like the only LLSS class that’s growing is the WTPA 470 one, ECI and Badger State both struggle with numbers anymore even after allowing of decubing of 400 series IH engines.

Re: Badger State LLSS November 14, 2024 08:54AM
There are more coming too.

Re: Badger State LLSS November 15, 2024 11:00AM
Maybe if you build to ntpa rules there would be a lot less confusion. That is what I am doing and I would like to come out there and run with you guys . The competition here in Michigan and ohio seem to be pretty close but determined individuals will always rise to the top. Please keep an open mind when voting and not just what is right for your tractor only. Hopefully see you this summer

Re: Badger State LLSS November 15, 2024 12:07PM
so over the years there has been allot of concessions given to the diesel tractors. to my knowledge the alky tractors have went along with this. we are getting to the point with hp and weight the alcohol tractors are not as competitive. especially with the ntpa rules if things stay as they are it will be a all diesel class.might as just name it really light lp class. what's even crazier is I'm hearing allot of the 466 motors with fuel and air are 90,000 + to have one built. the cats out of the bag and I have to not yet see a class that actually talks about taking hp away

Re: Badger State LLSS November 15, 2024 01:45PM
No it won’t and alkys are more competitive as ever every hook it’s diesel and alkys battling for first with more alkys being built look down south it’s the most competitive llss in the country nobody anywhere else has it as perfect as they do with alkys winning as much or more then diesels give it a break if you know what your doing you can win with ether fuel and alkys are making great HP with a wide band rom range that they make peak power unlike the diesels who have roughly 80-100 more hp with a very minimal window of peak HP at a much smaller range of rom band

Re: Badger State LLSS November 15, 2024 10:02PM
Do you have data to back up that last claim? It doesn’t make sense to me, especially with the 466 having a bigger charger. Show us some HP & torque curves of a top 466 and a top 370.
From the videos I’ve seen tracks in Ky tend to be dry and slick, HP and Torque don’t dominate on that type of track.

Re: Badger State LLSS November 15, 2024 11:32PM
I will agree down south anyone can win on any given night because they have kept the weight down on the class. they also do not take away weight on the alky tractors. weight is what keeps the class close because it becomes more of a setup and drivers class.

Someone asked a simple question about Badger State LLSS . I responded with a simple answer. Please don't go down this road that my horse is better than yours . It really looks bad and plus it has been discussed many times on here before

Re: Badger State LLSS November 16, 2024 09:38AM
You have not got very good information together .Yes alcohol can win just as much down south BUT BUT hold on theres 20 alcohols to every one diesel down here

Re: Badger State LLSS November 17, 2024 09:40AM
Okay? But if the diesel
Have this and that aren’t they supposed to
Be dominating? Remember the 3.4 smooth makes a little less then these new 3.0 slotted turbos and yes I know there’s truth to my comment above bc I was at the dyno both times and no I’m not putting the dyno sheets on here we are also gonna to dyno a alcohol with a 3.4 smooth bore in the next couple weeks let you know

Re: Badger State LLSS November 17, 2024 12:59PM
Where is an alky allowed a 3.4 in llss?

Re: Badger State LLSS November 17, 2024 02:36PM
They’re not just going to test a 3.4 if you read the post no where does it say alkys are allowed 3.4s
