John Deere 7.6L question January 23, 2011 02:05PM
Will a JD 7.6L from a 7800 or 9500 combine bolt into a 4430? What are some of the things that would have to be altered to make it work?
thanks in advance

I know u will definately need different frame rails to match the motor mounts.

The nose on the 9500 crank is longer. and yes bolt pattern for the frame rails which isn't a big deal

there are some 7.6 that have 2 less bell housing bolts, still will bolt to the 4430 housing, just with 2 less bolts. Most of these 7.6 blocks were combine engines.

How does the performance of this engine series compair to the performance of the 7.6L from the 55 series?

Will an 8.1 bolt in a 4320? I heard some will and some won't.

Re: John Deere 7.6L question January 24, 2011 12:11PM
An 8.1 will bolt to 4010 or a 4020 bell housing so the 4320 shouldn't be any different.
The front frame bolt holes are a little different they are 5/8" and are out a little farther to the front
and closer together. The rear are also 5/8" but in the same location.

yea but I think you want a engine out of a combine or power unit, maybe a dozer. Ive heard the ones in the later tractors have different blocks and the bellhousing and framerail bolts will not line up. Like maybe an 8100 tractor for instance?
