Turbo reccomendation for a 312 CI IH engine January 26, 2011 10:02AM
I am looking for a turbo for a 312IH engine. This engine will be run at near stock rpm and moderate fuel. I am thinking ether a 3-LD or a TB-4129, the TB has a 60compressor housing and a 84 turbine. On my puller I am using a 3-LM466 and it works quite well, I can get under it if everything isnt 100%.

We have a to4b18 on our 666/312 and it is an .84 exhaust and .60 intake as well. at 2800rpm and this turbo itll handle 4th gear and high side if the t/a very well at 6500 and 7500 pound classes. If you decide to turn more rpm an hx40 with a 17cm housing is a good choice. Gotta wind it up pretty tight to get it to take off but really lights a fire under it.

A turbo that came stock on a 429 allis works well too but i can not rember the number i know its a garrett also a to4 is a good choich

h1e holset will work really well ,open rpm use a #22 exhaust, limited use a #19 or 17 . Turbo measures 2.37x2.67 about.
