If you've ever hooked that sled, it's anything but "light" I've pulled it with an antique several times. We had it for a NATPA pull around 2000 or so and oh the whining and crying about how hard it pulled. For day 2 of a 2 day pull, the chain got an extra link to make the noise go away.
I grew up watching pulls in Missouri with that sled. I thought it was totally sac-relig when

There was a 4020 style pan that sold on the Facebook JD auction page a few days ago for $2250. Whether the 4020 style with the filter is worth more or less than the late one, I don't know.

What ECUs are available that are equivalent to an Electromotive XDi200? I have an XDi200 on my tractor and went to buy one for my 2nd tractor and have found out that Electromotive is no longer in business.

I know of one on a IH 360 that welded itself on the crank and had to be cut off. It was a lot of years ago, but I think the replacement got kissed with a hone and antiseized when it went back together.

I was thinking of this very thread when I was at a Western Series pull over the weekend and saw a crew member walking down the track in shorts and flip flops as the tractor backed up to the sled. Even though I know the guy, I'm not going to out him on a discussion board.
I'm also surprised that a crew member was allowed to sit on the concrete barrier with their legs dangling in on t

Reading the subject line before opening the thread, I thought I would be reading about someone "doping" and running hot fuel and tech allowing them to do it.

I build parts for antique pullers. I pull 2 cylinders, and will be the first to tell you that a 2 cylinder costs a lot more per HP than anything else. A 2 cylinder that runs at the top in 6-8mph classes can easily be in the $30,000s, and I know of a couple that I don't think $40,000 would build it. Depends on how much bling you want inside and out, and how much of it you can do yourself.

I helped in the office for a indoor antique pull a few years back. Let me assure you, no one is getting rich! After you pay building rent, sled fees, insurance, fuel for track support equipment, possibly pay some help that isn't volunteer, for multi day pulls pay lodging expenses for the help, there isn't much if any left. I see lots of people bitch about hook fees and how someone is

Antique in the summer is $15-20 depending on where you go, plus association membership. Winter indoor antique is anywhere from $30-50 depending on where you go.

We already have red light/green light in the antique world. When the sled lights go from red to green, the lights at the end of the track go from red to green. In this case, I would think they would need to be able to be controlled by a track official instead solely the sled itself. The sled should be in the loop too, so green can't be given without the sled being ready, and red can be sh

Your "farm system" is antique, open speed natural aspirated classes and the 100 different versions of farm stock/pro field/hot farm. A problem I see, is there are some at the top that look down on anyone and everyone that doesn't run their particular class. You can read comments to that effect on here pretty regularly. When someone has what for them is a lot of money invested in their vehi

You are absolutely correct that nothing can guarantee containing any and all engine parts in the event of an explosion. BUT, the first thing a lawyer is going to look at in the event of an injury is that did the tractor owner/driver, pull promoter, sled operator, venue owner/operator and the guy running the snow cone stand behind the bleachers do everything reasonably possible to prevent an inju

Sounds about right for the Jefferson City Jaycees The last year they had the pull they had NO alcohol sales at all, and if I remember right the Jaycees had something to do with that, too.

Yes, I know I'll catch some flack over this, "it's boring", "not enough smoke and noise", yada yada yada. But any speed limit class is a drivers class. Getting the tractor set up right, picking the right spot on the track and knowing when/how much throttle to give are all the more critical when you don't have momentum to carry you along.
Before I get flamed, I am NOT trying to

Years ago here in Missouri the V8 guys in our club begged and begged one of the open antique guys to hook their class. The antique made the V8 tractors look bad! Then the excuses started flying, like "he's got more cubic inches than us". I don't remember the rest of the excuses, but there was a lot of whining after all the dust settled.

We sent a 6A in for repair +/- 20 years ago and it was a waste of time and money. It did run after the repair when it would not before, but it wasn't right. For what they charged for the repair, that money would have been better spent toward the new box we had to buy anyway.

Bryan,
In defense of KerryJ/lol/Reggie/etc.....I live 25 miles from the track in Mexico and if not for a Facebook post, I wouldn't have heard a thing about this pull. A co worker told me he did hear one radio ad last week on Cover 96, the Mexico radio station. I haven't heard any ads on Columbia radio (and I listen to Columbia radio every day)and I have not seen any fliers posted at
