Too mr.xxx , how many tractors have you teched? I have seen tractors with tilt hoods that do have side shields bolted on the frames. Will they hold this type of failure, probably not , but it might slow the side movement . In these videos and pictures the hood flipped forward. If these questions aren't asked how can safety be improved after this incident.

Looks like it was a tilt hood, I am sure the side shields were up to specs. In this case the hood was force open by engine failure. So with tilting hoods , should the side shields be bolted to the frame?

It seem to me in some of these comments all safety precautions worked engine went forward as design to do. My question is why so many were sitting in lawn chairs at the end of the track maybe 10 feet from the chalk line in the videos I watched. In all my pulling days we have tried to keep people back at the end of the track . Why was this over looked

Freeport will have some kind of pull. Last year they say their not making money. Which since they started charging at grandstand durning the pulls it's gone down hill in my opinion, that place use to be packed. They have good sponsors for the pull , and will leave it right there.

After reading all the responses over the years, including mine . This whole thing could have be solved years ago. Now people have spent money and now everyone wants unified rules.I think Jeremy's post above is the best comment at this point. We all know everyone's rules by now , let's just go pulling. Oh and if you decide to build for

When the original rules were made in 1997 it was for diesel class only 315 twins and 410 single with coolers. It ran that way for years with no issues on weight because everything worked. Now since we added alcohol everyone thinks we need to change. We have numbers why would changing weight make a difference if it's been working.

Lewis when I started pulling in 2002 the weight was all ready 6500 . As I remember I think the class started in 1997 and at that time they pull twice in a night at 6200 and 7000 . As why they chose 6500 for pulling once I do not know , I assume they just compromised. The thing to remember we are there to put a show on or we are the entertainment , so what ever weight we use in Badger State should

Rules for Louisville only. 1. I would set the weight at 6300 diesel 6100 alcohol. 2 . Turbo rule, smooth bore 3 by 4 alcohol , 3 by 4 with slotted cover for all diesels . I am not going to list all engine combinations for diesel, but most know what the they are. 3 . 24.5 or 30.5 tires. 4 air bag front allowed for this event only. 5. Diesel fuel no higher than the 150 on dielectric test. These r

Since Dick Morgan started this post , maybe it needs to be reworded. If you were on the national farm machinery board how would you set rules for the LLSS class and must consider rules from every association? Keep in mind that DSS and USS have a 200# weight difference already.

To the previous post . This is exactly why LLSS will never get to Louisville. Bitching about weight. Who the hell cares, I can make weight for what ever the weight rules are. Just in my area we run 6500. I can't get to shipshewana because I have responsibilities to the farm. If that makes a difference in your opinion how many tractors there are , so be it .

Personally I don't see anyone agreeing on LLSS rules. PPL with some associations have different rules. John Mears and I discussed this a while back why we're not the same, that's the way they wanted it I was told . Just like any other tractor class PPL and NTPA will never agree. Numbers at the Winter Nationals at Shipshewana aren't very good , I see TNT event for this weekend

Since you have revealed yourself in a different post Tomah Winner. What are the main differences between associations with rules for the LLSS class? There are 3 rules , 1 is differences in weight anywhere 6000 to 6500. 2 is 470 cube rule. 3 is the turbo rule . Everything else is pretty standard between all. And if differences work for these associations and if Louisville put a set of rules out ,

Has anyone ever talked with the committee that puts the Louisville pull on? And were is the positive side of the LLSS class being there and I am sure if you were selected I don't think weight they chose would matter , because you would go right?

To Dave Dann, It's not that we don't appreciate a good photograph and if it's good I will purchase them .The point is when pictures or used in calendar for instance. Using 12 LLSS tractors at a Badger State pull , then promoting the sale as Badger State light limited calendar. Do you need permission through badger state to sell it this way?

Thanks for your input guys. With photographers posting on Facebook there using your tractor or class on sales of calendars and other things they sell. To me it doesn't seem right , but on the other hand I agree with Tom , just appreciate the photo and give a little gratitude back to the puller .

The last poster gets the point, this class was originally set for the small cube tractors . And this post is not for to discuss the weight . I was simply responding on why different engine combinations that we have researched and can be used in the LLSS because that class was mentioned. Don't get me wrong , we had to make a rule to de-cube big motors to keep guys in the class, but that'

Lewis , Our fans are smart people that do know the difference what's under the hood. Factory replacement was brought on by the manufacturer not the ones making the rules. That's where the research of the tractor manufacturer comes in handy because so many manufacturers have combined. What's hurt this class in the big cubed motor (470). Because now the engine options are wide open .

This is how we sat down and discussed this as a class. We consider that the LLSS class is a small tractor chassis class first under 410 cubes. Case used a 5.9 Cummins in a 1896 and 2096, so we decided that case tractors could use that motor. So white tractors used a 5.9 in there 100 up to 185 which used a 8.3 , so the 185 was the cut off. With Oliver White and Moline combining together they would

There the old saying , if it's not broken don't fix it . So 15 tractors in Badger State and only paying 10 place , so more tractors benefit who? Your cubic inch proposal would benefit or Light pro class at 540 cubic inch with more tractors. I just don't see changing a class that has many numbers in the area.

Go back and read the turbo rule that NTPA just adopted. It states for both 410 and 470 turbo options.3 By 4 map ring or 3. 4 by 4 smooth. And I was replying to the post above . Because we had some in Baraboo try to past a 470 off as 410 with no cooler.

This turbo rule has nothing to do with safety, letting some in or out . This is about bolting on a performance issue. And I keep tell these guys that want the 470 rule in Badger State , come to the winter and spring meeting and state why we should adopt this rule and no one shows up . We want tractors that are going to show up and support this class , not for one or two hooks. We rely on this to

I know that what we as a class in Badger State might be doing it different with the weight difference and same turbo size. We had 10 hooks this year . Average about 9 tractors, which two alcohol were regulars and 2 made it half of them . Out of them 10 the Alcohol won three times and one finished third in points. But everyone else thinks it's crazy , but it works for us with out spending dol
