I dont know where there are any charts but here is how you can figure it if you know your tooth counts.
multiply the tooth count of all the driven gears together and divide by the tooth count of all the drive gears.

The parts that I have seen break in a cockshut are the differential and the ring and pinion. This was with v 8 pushing 700-800 hp.

I do alot of work on transmissions and differentials for v 8 tractors. One of the best ones that I have seen for holding up is a farmall 400. I have seen no breakage in them. The differential cross is the same size from a farmall 400 to an international 1466. An oliver 88 is known for breaking the axle housings so they are not a good candidate. Actually I have also seen a lot of breakage in the

I agree with everything thing you said. One other thing though is I believe a 4430 quad is under driven when in the low side so if both tractors had the same power, the 4430 quad transmission would see more torque than the 4320 syncro when the quad was in the low side since the quad reduces the rpm of the transmission shaft and increases the torque . It really would be a toss up and either tracto

We have put 3 speed transmissions in both 4320 and a 4430 and the actual transmission in stock form is almost identical on both. The high range pinion is usually the first thing to break on a stock transmission and they both use the exact same part number for the high range pinion. If anything I would say the top shaft of a 4430 is weaker since it has a hole drilled all the way through it for the

Just a little information. You will have to use a 4020 clutch housing. A 4010 clutch housing will not Bolt to 4430.

Do you still have the internal brakes? Those can cause a lot of drag. Another big thing is to change your 4 speed to a 3 speed. Actually your 4 speed still has 6 gears doesnt it? If it does those pit gears are robbing a lot of power. I do realize that they are nice for moving around in the pits and loading but you have to sacrifice them if you really want to free up the lost power. All this will

Pulled today at local fair pull. I couldn't keep the power to the ground. Starting off the line the truck hopped and everytime I let off and eased into it or let off and punch it, it would hop till 30 feet from the end. The rear mainly hopped. Everything is stock on the truck except for the motor. What can I do to prevent this? Thanks in advance.

I did a little more searching on jdparts and I dont see anything that matches this part. A 6030 used a collar like this for the reverse but it doesnt have the proper number of teeth. The collar for a 3020 pinion shaft also does not have the proper number of teeth.
I am not positive but I am leaning towards this being a non jd part and one that Urmson made.

I did some checking and the shifting collar on a 4000 is much smaller so it cant be that. Some of the big block deeres used collars like this on the input shaft but I dont know how big they were off hand.

That looks like the shift collar used on the pinion shaft but they are much larger than that. Most syncro transmissions do not have a shifting collar like this on the input shaft of the transmission. They have syncronizer packs that do the shifting. The only tractor that I can think of that this may be from is a 4000 because they are not syncronized on the reverse gear and they have a shifting c

Using an 1800 tranmission, I believe you could get a couple different ratios using stock parts but the most you will have is 4 pulling gears and I am still not sure if you would have the exact ratio you need.. I built an 1800 transmission using custom gears that I made and it has the original 6th gear and 5 gears faster. In order to do this you have to make a new countershaft because the original

Your ratios with those numbers would be
1st gear 22.6
2nd gear 19.0
3rd gear 19.8
Are you sure on those tooth counts? Those seem like some strange numbers.
Usually the constant gears should add up to 52 teeth and the other gears should add up to 62 or 63 teeth depending on if these used profile shifted gears. Your second gear teeth add up to 59 teeth..

You have to remember that the valve order is exhaust , intake, intake , exhaust , exhaust, intake, intake, exhaust, exhaust. intake, intake, exhaust so if you made the valve pockets match the size of the valves you would actually need three left handed pistons and three right handed pistons. But most guys just make both pockets large enough for the intake valves and make all pistons the same. If

Here is very crude drawing of one way to mount a neutral light switch on a 4010. You just need to fab a bracket to mount a switch so that the arm on the shifting drum under the dash contacts it when the transmission is in neutral. You can use a switch like this one.

Some parts of a 4020 and 4320 rear end may be the same but transmission parts are definitely different. 4320 has longer and bigger shafts and the bearings are also larger.

4020 would be stronger since it has more teeth on the pinion but if weight is a problem, you can use a 4010 and put a 4020 ring and pinion in it. It does take a little machine work though and it makes it go faster.. You can also put the 4010 planetaries on the 4020 to save weight and it also makes it go faster as the 4010 planetaries have a different ratio.

The casting on a 4010 is alittle lighter and the axle housings are lighter also. Most of the gears and shafts are a little shorter and lighter. The pinion gear is also a little weaker because it only has 6 teeth where the 4020 has 8 teeth. The planetary gears on a 4010 are narrower than the 4020 also.

This is just my opinion but I have put the viton orings in for customers when we were building their tansmissions but they have had nothing but trouble with them. On the other hand, there are a few local tractors running wilwood master cylinders and they have no problems as long as you get all the old hydraulic oil out of the brake system. These are still running the original Deere orings. I fee

I am not sure if you are refering to the spider gears in the differential or the planetary gears in the final drive. When we put needle bearings on the sides of the planetary gears, we surface grind the gears until smooth and then machine the housing to accept new washers and the bearings. On the the spider gears, we machine both the gear and the housing to accept the bearings and the washers.

Just putting needles on the pin is better than nothing but sooner or later you will probably need to needle the whole thing. It will also be easier to keep it going straight with everything needled

You could buy a pin that goes through the spider gears that is already machined for the loose needles and you could do that yourself but you also need to install torington bearings behind the side gears and either torrington bearings or brass washers behind the spiders. these all need machined to allow room for the bearings. Here is a picture of a torrington bearing that goes behind the side gea
