Been there, done that on a blown mini and we got the same comments--idiots, unsafe, jackasses, etc. Not quite as much smoke, but them's bigger tires--lol! JW

That class is called SS-Combo. Each level is handicapped to try to make them somewhat equal. SF, LtPro, LmtPro, PRO, SSD, Alky,....basically a tractor class. Sid has been beaten many times competing in this class He seldom comes--normally only a couple of times a year. There were a couple tractors missing that would have been right there with him. That was the best hook I have seen Sid make

I could have flagged Sid at 330-340 and he would have coasted another 25 or so. I probably should have thrown flag earlier as there was no one going to touch him. However, on Friday, when Don Deane went 330+, I said "ain't nobody going to beat that" and then Bob Jostock came up and did, hence my reaction on Saturday. Actually, the track after 320 was better than the measured pulling surf

Regional/state class only. This is basically the class that ran with HSTPA and I think it coincides with the PPL class. The rules are listed in the announcement. JW

I just got the September 15, 2017 edition of Michigan Farm News. The front page headline concerns the financial situation of Boersen Farms, LLC. At this point, there is no bankruptcy and only the possibility of receivership (though it seems the forgone conclusion). Hopefully, the harvest season goes well and yields are good for all parties involved. One point I found interesting in the articl

Boerson Farms and their entities are LLC's, so no corporate members are indvidually responsible for any debts or liabilitis they may have. So as long as the LLC does not own the pulling tractors or hauler they cannot be touched. But that doesn't make it OK in my book though.
Unless the laws have changed since I got my MBA, the use of an LLC does not protect the individuals

The Brad Penn 50 wt oil I use allows the alcohol to separate if I let it sit for a couple of days. And I use a lot....one pass equals an oil change. Since methanol has a boiling point of about 140 or so, I heat a batch to 250 for a couple of hours then filter, repackage a percentage with new and reuse. JW

In today's competitive environment, the "level" of your license does not dictate how good a vehicle is. Pick any class and there are examples: Writsel's come right to mind! There are many regional licensed vehicles that can and are competitive on the grand national level. Meaning that if certain regional competitors show up at a GN event, they are going to be at the top. The level

At NTPA events, the payout is listed for SN, GN, and RN events in the 2017 rule book. Bowling Green pays additional places and money; not sure about Tomah. At Chapel Hill, everyone gets paid something. Six classes have a 10 place payback--UL, MOD, OSS, DSS, LSS, SEM. The rest have 12 place payback at the GN level. The purses range from $11700 to $5200 at GN single hook events. The purses ar

Ratios are from 8 to 12.5. You can figure tire speed from there as ts is contingent on engine RPM. Some are turning 10,000 and some are at 8500 or so. JW

"better add a rim" had the best post on this thread. Ahh, if it is just a little bit over, what's the hurt? If that is everyone's impression, throw out the sanctioning bodies and their rule books and just go to the track. See how that works out.JW

I see there is a 3-engine modified going to be auctioned on the 22nd in Jamestown, PA. The tractor is called "Super Hunky" owned by Potase Farms. Three blown Chevy stairstepped mod--looks like Puller 2000's. Has this been run lately. A picture and the auction info is on Auctionzip.com, #45633. Any particulars, anyone? JW

Well, come on and film the exploits of trying to make a twin turboed mini be successful in the mini class. Year before last would have been a doozy while we trashed and thrashed five motors yet made every GN hook. Come see us this year run the region circuit with some GN hooks what is now a bare-bones budget. No big fancy work shops, no new hauler, just lots of fans trying to be different. The
