The dairy explosion and fire in Texas - 1 year ago
The explosion and fire that killed 18,000 cow and totally destroyed the dairy barn should remind everyone of the tremendous investment that the American farms have. And this is not counting the workers that were injured. So easy to go to the grocery store and not give a second thought to just how this food showed up day after day.by Dick Morgan - Off-Topic Forum

The purse numbers from 1978 to 2023 - 1 year ago
I received an email from a puller that showed the NTPA purse in 1978 to today's current payouts in each class. It's amazing how little (if any) the payouts have changed in 30+ years. I understand that pulling is a very expensive sport, when you factor in inflation the numbers are even worse. I'm not blaming the NTPA, it's just a fact of life. I guess my takeaway is that we shby Dick Morgan - Forum

My other question is, I wonder in the first couple years of the class if you had of asked the pullers what is the most HP can you get out of a single charger, 680 cubic inch diesel what would their answer have been?by Dick Morgan - Forum

Re: Why is the NTPA making rules so complicated ? - 1 year ago
Thank you for sharing such a profound perspective. I couldn't agree more. I wrote an article several years ago that advocated every class drop their respective weight by 10%. Needless to say I got plenty of pushback. In fact I had some pullers tell me they needed more weight, nor less.by Dick Morgan - Forum
Why is the NTPA making rules so complicated ? - 1 year ago
Lately it seems like every time the NTPA writes a rules they seem to have to revisit the rules and do some clarifications. Why are they so determined to micromanage the pullers. It just seems like you write a rule for tire size that states width and circumference ( this is just one example) of any given class and expect the pullers to follow the rules and show up with legal equipment. Re: Should Pro Stocks be allowed to run 30.5s? - 1 year ago
Tomah Winner, wrong answer. The fact is the sport needs to appeal to the fans in the stands. After a while it just becomes a tractor parade. They all go the roughly the same distance down the track at almost the same speed. Something should be visually different. Not every fan is a pulling expert.by Dick Morgan - Forum
Pullers have choices! - 1 year ago
For me it's not about the rules as much as it is about the process making the rules. Stop pretending that the pullers have any say.by Dick Morgan - Forum
Pullers have choices! - 1 year ago
If I go to a restaurant and get a bad meal I may give them a second chance and go back one more time. However I can guarantee you that I will not go back again if I get another subpar meal. There are other restaurants that will give me a good value for my dollar. Pullers have choices, to complain about rules and do nothing about your pulling choices really give you very little sympathy. Re: Has the NTPA gone '' woke'' ? - 1 year ago
While I will agree at some level the difference is the Lt. PS component chassis is optional. You do not have to run one. The class is 8300 lbs component and 8500 lbs cast OEM. You are comparing apples to lemons.by Dick Morgan - Forum
Has the NTPA gone '' woke'' ? - 1 year ago
Lately it seems like every time the NTPA make a new rule it takes more and more options away from the pullers. Every rule decision is to make the sport more " fair". The sport already suffers from a cookie cutter image and all this is doing is reinforcing that perception. It looks like the NTPA made a class called 5 inch, box turbo Pro Stock and then set rules to kill the class before it even begby Dick Morgan - Forum
Re: What's so special? - 1 year ago
I'm not sure what part of the NTPA 5. PS is vague. The rules clearly state the Lt. Ps, SF and 4.1 can not enter the 5 PS class.by Dick Morgan - Forum

Re: Future of the modified class (rule idea for the future) - 1 year ago
Why have any rules then? And does that mean that pulling HP has to change every year, every hook. I understand the search for HP but do we need to keep changing the rules that allow the spending of money to chase the HP game? My question still is, DOES it improve the show to keep raising the HP in any class?by Dick Morgan - Forum
Re: Future of the modified class (rule idea for the future) - 1 year ago
The interesting thing to me about the NTPA Unlimited Mod class is that if you look at the points race you will see that there was 2 three engine mods and 4, 4 engine Mods in the top 6. My point is that from a visual standpoint there is no difference than the PPL Mods or even the NTPA Mod class. There is no difference with the speed down the track, no difference with the length of the track , samby Dick Morgan - Forum

I do have a couple questions about the gambling issue. - 1 year ago
Was not able to make it to the meeting, however I do have a couple questions. 1: and maybe the most important question is, how does this benefit the pullers monetarily. I'm not talking about more fan in the seats, I'm asking how does the puller make more money? And on the same vain how do the organizations make more money. 2, does gambling increase the paying fan base? 3, do I needby Dick Morgan - Forum
