Re: I'm getting a NOT FOUND when trying to view this site. - 1 year ago

Yeah, I'm working on making the website HTTPS rather than just HTTP. I'm not a web designer and I won't bore everyone with the details on the change but it's simply Google trying to force the internet over to the HTTPS protocol. The "S" stands for Secure. Secure websites are fine for sites that have important personal data like credit cards or social security numbers but I

Re: John Young's front tire - 1 year ago

This isn't about preventing every incident. Everyone knows that isn't possible, and that isn't what this is about. This is simply about preventing a known issue that has happened countless times. This is simply about implementing a known solution to a curable problem. Accidents will always happen. This accident happens repeatedly and when you ignore it that is negligence.

Re: Mini wreck at BG - 1 year ago

I'd counter with... Have you ever seen a chain break? It can be uglier. However the sport still uses chains... we just make sure they are properly sized. Also, we're talking about a 3-4 foot (maximum) section of kinetic rope... not a +30' rope doing a huge recovery. Stretch is usually 25-30% so minimal stretch... one foot of stretch would probably be the maximum. It's n

Re: Mini wreck at BG - 1 year ago

I'm starting to think having a kinetic energy type rope as a second hitch could be an interesting option to absorb some of the energy for something like a mini that has tight space constraints. They make straps that can pull out a Steiger and straps that are designed to pull out UTV's. I think it's a viable solution that would help absorb some of the energy.

Re: John Young's front tire - 1 year ago

Yes, it was addressed, but it's still happening. It didn't solve the problem and they refuse to act. Honestly, it make's it even worse... the ski bars prove that the organizations know it's an issue. There's no possible way they can plead ignorance. A lawyer will ask if they knew...clearly the answer will be YES. Then he will ask if the ski bars solved the problem...

Re: BG the good and the bad - 1 year ago

IH 5488, Totally agree. Once people start acting like the pull was/is perfect then why bother improving since it's perfect already and there's clearly nothing to improve. As for the sled resets, I didn't think there were that many and I didn't see them as a real issue. They want to have the best show possible and the closer you try to get to perfection the more minor twe

Re: John Young's front tire - 1 year ago

Well said. It's a known problem and the sanctioning bodies refuse to act. That won't look good in court when it does go poorly. It will also won't look great for sanctioning bodies when the lawyers bring up the fact that there are already engineered solutions out there that could have been implemented. I hope it never happens but I fear that it's inevitable.

Re: John Young's front tire - 1 year ago

Brake rotor style usually has 3 or more retainers that surround/retain the "rotor" (which is part of the hub assembly). Think of the "retainers" like mini brake calipers that are spaced 120 degrees apart and mounted to a ring to make a small subassembly. The retainer ring assembly (subassembly) is still tethered to the chassis. When the spindle breaks the rotor is retained in the subassembly a

Re: BG Friday Night Pro Stock Class - 1 year ago

Colin, Totally agree. When Youngblood went 343 it made me pretty concerned that IF they built a road we'd have tons out the end. I thought it was the right call with such a big class and so many top tier tractor yet to go. Yes, it was a bitter pill to swallow for the Shramek team and yes, they made a great pass but I think if you step back and look at it with the history you mentioned

Re: Light mods - 1 year ago

Thanks, I was wondering what you did. Watching you guys come out of the hole was painful... burning the tires off them with no ground speed and then when the pan dropped and the box topped it was a mess. I'm sure the sled will get sorted out and a weight will be put on the front of the pan or some other adjustment will be made so you guys can actually hook to the track.

Re: John Young's front tire - 1 year ago

It's premature to talk about wheel tethers... sure that front wheel reached cruising altitude and flight attendants on the rim started serving drinks on the tire... however we need to wait until somebody is badly hurt or killed before we actually address tethers. To just asking... tethers should be attached to the chassis. I'm no engineer but there are numerous ways to design one...

Re: Light mods - 1 year ago

Todd, Did you make any changes after your test hook? Congrats on making a nice pass on your second attempt. I was really disappointed at the showing of the Light Mod. I think it was a perfect storm from a number of different factors... sled setup, tractor setup for some, track, etc... I still think the class has a ton of potential and I think Vaughn will figure out the setup on the red sl

Re: If pulling began this century..... - 1 year ago

If pulling began this century is probably one of the best hypothetical questions on here in a very long time. It’s interesting to try and put yourself in this parallel universe/world. It reminds me of the premise to the show The Man in the High Castle for those who have seen any of it. I don’t agree with agree with Bryan’s premise. India…. Is India. That culture is very, very, very differe

Re: Pro and cons of crossdressing - 1 year ago

I'll ask you the same questions as ABOBB... does pulling have a ceiling? Is the potential Unlimited? Could it be bigger than the NFL? Also, I think we all want to see pulling in large stadiums.... now the difficult question.... why don't we anymore? Why did that era come and go? Your story about country music in stadiums was great but it doesn't exactly parallel the story o

Re: Pro and cons of crossdressing - 1 year ago

I'm not talking about anyone's "personal"/private personality (that's part of the disconnect between us). I'm only talking about their public side. That's the side the average fan will see if you were to focus on personalities. The private life makes for a nice feel good story on Olympic broadcasts but doesn't grow the sport. Also, I don't mean flamboyan

I wasn't saying anything about Andy's orientation... I was very careful with my words to not imply anything. But as I said in another post, if you say one thing and promote the opposite there's a disconnect there. Sometimes it takes a bold example for people to see the disconnect. To me his comments showed a disconnect saying he's a purist but still approves of crossdressin

Brent, I was thinking the same thing as LSS Fan, but the points comment makes a ton of sense. Thanks. I've got no problem selling or raffling off tickets for a ride down the track. I do think it's a valid discussion of whether this would enhance an event or cheapen it. I know there are people on both sides of that issue. I also wonder how many people are interested in something

So you accuse me of bashing but you don't provide any specifics or details. Either I bashed or I didn't. You should easily provide proof if I did. Now you accuse me of backpedaling even though I said I stand by my statement... and I even added to my statement for clarity. Nowhere did I backpedal. I'm not going to backpedal on this either. The vast majority of pullers are outshi

Re: Pro and cons of crossdressing - 1 year ago

I'm confused at what was out of line in my comments? You even admitted that "While Andy may not technically be a purist"... so we agree. There's nothing wrong with not being a purist or brand loyal. I've got zero gripe with anyone who isn't. My point is, don't say your one thing but support another. Just admit who you are. Discussions are better when people can be honest

Re: Pro and cons of crossdressing - 1 year ago

QuoteBadgerfanMy opinion when someone works hard to build a new tractor that stands out or that looks different from the standard red or green the bashing they get on here is uncalled for. If you disagree that's fine were all entitled to an opinion, say you disagree and quit the bashing. Could you please post a link to any of the bashing?

QuoteGirbachAI'm purists but I enjoy seeing folks using different colors and different brands. It's time to admit to yourself that you're not a purist. IT's OK... but be honest with yourself. If you saw someone say they weren't gay, but they do like watching dudes hook up... you'd laugh at that comment. That's exactly what your comment looks like to a brand

Re: Component Lt. PS - 1 year ago

The decline of NASCAR started before the decline of the economy. The decline started with the car of tomorrow and the lack of brand loyalty. The decline started when the economy was doing great. People are brand loyal. Most EVERYONE I know that has a pickup truck will tell you why their brand is better than the other brand. I know guys that would never drive another brand... I know guys that

Re: Component Lt. PS - 1 year ago

Martins had a pair of non-component pros that ran every bit as good as their pair of component pros. Profab and SCS gear boxes and parts have been stuffed inside of all types of housings. I like components... but be honest about why you want them. Simply pretending like you can't hold the power of a Light pro without a component chassis isn't entirely true.
