My point about all of the different diesel tractors is that the fans in the stands can't tell the difference from one class to the other. When the sled is set properly they all go about the same distance and go fast. As for getting bored I would say this...I can watch The Color of Money go down the track in the Lt class the see it the next night in the heavy class at a RN event and not be

Dennis, you mean like the way you can tell the difference between Lt. Pro,limited pro, pro, super farm? Not to mention all of the versions of hot farm and farm stock. If you can pull your SS tractor in the Lt class and the heavy class why should I not be able to hook in more than one class? Part of the problem with all of pulling is that people are not willing to spend what it takes for what the

I like the idea of cutting it to two engines just from the standpoint of trying to get more tractors interested in running. As it is no one can or will spend the kind of money it takes to compete in the class. With the payout and number of hooks it is hard to justify. I don't have a proplem with other engine posiblitys, there was an Allison tractor that ran the first event last year at Tom

No the Sullivan's didn't want to have the movable weight, that was in put in there by the powers that be as a safety factor. Then last year they said that they didn't think that it was necessary. The Sullivan's wanted to leave the weight the same and bring the class back to two engines. Did they pull the class...no and that was one of the reasons that they didn't,becaus

Most of the potential pullers as well as pullers that have already run in the class that I have talked with would like to see the weight the same and go to two engines. There is also a proposal to leave the rules the same as they are and lock them in for the next 5 years. I have heard pros and cons on both sides of this issue and have heard that the board members are split on the issue. If you

I have had this discussion several times with different people. I have financed my haulers over the years but I only spend money that I have on the pullers. The haulers can always be insured then sold if I get in a bind. My pulling tractor can make one bad pass down the track and there may be nothing left to sell. When I switched over to Hemi engines from Chevy's I started with two Hemi&

Wouldn't that just lead to people trying to get more and more RPMs out of their engines? That would be some high dollar engines to withstand high RPMs.

Although I don't often go to pulls as strictly a fan I am still a fan of pulling. One thing I would add to that list is a good sled,a sled that can adjust to a poor track can make all the difference on how good the show is. Tarry always says that the announcer and the sled can make or break a pull.

Our coverage was not cheap by any means but it covers a lot of stuff. We are covered in our shop,on the road and we are covered for hasmat spills if we wreck and spill fuel or any hazardous material on the roads. The guy that owns Gulfway is a racer so he knows all of the things that are special about what we do.
We pull mod tractors so not just anyone will cover us. I'm not convinced

Wasn't the V-12 two V-6 engines mated together? I had a coworker years ago that had driven a semi that he said was the V-12 but was made by joining two of the V-6 engines together. Is that fact of fiction?

Another thing to consider is that the Roberts Pulling Team for what ever reason has not been pulling much for the last few years. If they sell the tractors to a new owner that new owner is likely going to pull with one organization or the other putting the tractors back out on the track. As it is they are parked in a shop instead. I always enjoyed watching those tractors and thought that the R

That was not the tractor that they got 2nd with,it was Scott Tedders tractor from last year that Scott ran with PPL. That was Kevin's first time in the seat, not a bad pass for his fist time with that tractor.

The guys we deal with on our snowcats used to sell Tuckers back in those days. They may be able to help you out with some info on the difference in how the engines are set up. If you want their contact info drop me an e-mail at tfeiss@perfectnorth.com and I'll see what I can do.

So in your world how does this work, if I win a lot am I suppose to detune my tractor or should I stay home from a few events or just sell out so that someone else can win?
What about the years that I was getting beat by the same tractor night after night,do I get catch up credits for those years?

I don't think I'm smart enough to give a good answer to this question. There are lots of ways to figure this,if you want to include the cost of your puller, hauler and all of the consumable parts I'm not sure I even want to know that number. I think I would quit pulling if I knew that number. I do know that every year when we do our taxes I am stunned at how much we spend.

I never even hinted that the world revolves around me. This is called a feedback forum so that is what I did, gave my feedback. My wife doesn't even have the same opinion about this as I do. She says that most of the time everyone should be stopped before 300' and the pulloff should be the exception not the rule. Someone made a point that I have made for many years: if we are wanted

I tend to get caught up in the pulloff frenzy when ever I get there but then after we are done I reflect on how much money it cost me over the course of the year and I'm not so thrilled. We don't like bumping the sled especially when there are a lot of fans in the stands. In Ionia this year I was the only one coming back in the pull off and I made a full pass anyway as the stands were

Ted,
As pullers that run on certain circuits we tend to see the same announcers over and over. We had one years ago that my wife got very tired of listening to as we heard the same jokes and comments over and over. But as I pointed out to her, the fans are hearing it for the first time and most announcers only have so much stuff in their arsenal of things to talk about.

Straight weight oils tend to be more durable under high load situations. In a pulling tractor cold starting and cold weather running are not an issue. I have always understood that to be the reason for multi-grade oils. We use 70w oil in our blower engines but we always start them and let them warm up before putting them under load. This gets the oil warm and flowing better, that is what the m

We sell oil to a GN level Pro Stock, he uses 40w. We also sell to some others in the LtPro class that use 50w. All of the alky powered tractors that we sell to use 50w. There are a few customers in these class's that use 20w50 but most use straight weight oils.
