We also have a system one on our TWD and have no issues with leaks. They are a little messier than the Oberg type filter and the Oberg is much quicker to check.

The advantage is that you can pull it apart quickly to see if you have any problems with bearings or other engine issues. You can do this between passes.

I remember the person next to me said he does that all the time and kinda rolled his eyes. Another tractor that I remember seeing in about 1977 was a tractor called Bull Shippers Express, it was a co-op with a V-8. He hauled it in a gooseneck cattle trailer. I allways thought that that was a clever name.

One that I'm sure you have seen over the years Charlie is Frank Fryman's Hercules. Frank didn't run any national events but ran very strong. The tractor is an F-20 with a big block Chevy. I watched Frank run against some HSTPA tractors back in the mid seventy's, he ran 18.4 tire and they all had bigger tires. I was a little shocked when he was in the top two or three,he ma

Well me and a lot of my friends will stay and watch them. I'm not sure why everyone is so sure that no-one wants to watch these classes. I'm not a big fan of the SF class so does that mean that no-one likes them,no it doesn't and I'm not narrow minded enough to think that. I understand that it is the "FARM SHOW" and is attended by mostly farmers but some farmers like the no

Ray,
Nobody wants to watch the 2wd,really? I for one want to watch them as well as a lot of my friends,so don't speak with such certainty about what other people want to watch. I don't pretend to know what you want to watch so don't pretend to know what I want to watch.

I have to disagree with youon one count Jake. After I watched David Seifert not make the pulloff the night before after being flagged,if you get the red flag and still have momentum you should be in no mater what your distance is. I suppose I can see a driver wanting to get a little deeper just to be sure. It does seem that that may not have been the reason for the DQ but who knows for sure.

I think one that has stuck with me over the years was the first mod tractors with the small airplane front tires. I think the Banter brothers started it. Although it wasn't as much a style thing as it was a necessarie part of making the engines all fit. I have to admit that I didn't like it at all but now I have two tractors with them. :-)

I seem to remember being at a pull just after the NTPA put the class in and they talked about the Kohl's as being one of the driving forces getting the class into NTPA. I think their names were Gary and Dale, I think they ran an 856 and a 1206. Can anyone confirm this, my memory is a little fuzzy on this.

I think any Class in pulling will be looked at by some as being boring that is part of why it is important to have a variety of classes. Most any class you look at has a certain combination that works best for the rules. When you look at the pro stock class most tractors are Deere's,look at the heavy ss class and most of the class is IH. It seems to be that way in most any class, pullers s

WI,my Hemi's weigh about 950 lbs with the clutch and can.
Dick, One of the things that works well with the rules the way they are now is that I can take the Feissty Farmer to the RN/State pulls and compete as well as adding an engine to run the GN Mod class. We can be competitive in all three classes, this makes the investment a lot more attractive for me and I'm sure some others see

Dick, I'm not sure why you think it will but be worse than it was, I feel like we will be seeing a lot better participation in the class as well a far more competitive class. I get the people that are saying it will be a cooky cutter class but to me that is better than a class where one tractor wins by 50' every time out. As for the name I told them the first day I heard about the cla

There are 11 hooks on the books at this time. 2 at Fairlea, WV,2 at Tomah,1 at Arcola, 1 at LaGrange,IN, 1 at Jerseyville,Il, 2 at Benson,NC, 2 at Ionia, MI.
All of this is subject to change before the schedule is final. We already heard last night of a few that could change but who knows it could be just talk.
As for the numbers of tractors,it is hard to say as Adam said that they likely

We are going to run the Feissty Farmer in the Lt Unlimited, not sure what we will do about the Mod class as there will likely be some conflicts in the schedules. We would like to run the S'no Farmer in the Lt. Unlimited also but we have a hauler issue,we can't get them both in our trailer. We don't want to drive two haulers to the events. My facts need to be checked but I remember a puller in the late 70s or early 80s that pulled a Massy 2805 I think. His name was Don Flowers (again I'm not sure),the tractor was called old number one as it was the first 2805 made. I think he won a points title with that tractor back in those days.

The last one I did I set up a bench type cutoff saw (abrasive) on a temporary table under the axle. Had to turn the axle as The blade on the saw was not big enough to do it in one cut. A lot less heat and much neater than a torch. If I remember correctly (this was a long tome ago) it took two or three blades in the saw to get the job done.

JMB,
I remember going to a brush puller many years ago as a pull but also as a fan. The guy that promoted the pull also pulled a 4x4 truck. When his truck quit at about 150' about 6 kids ran out and jumped into the back of the truck and the driver got on his cell phone. It took them about ten minutes to get him off of the track. As a puller who had to go to work the next day and as a fa

I use a 1650 rear on an econo-mod. I went to a junk yard and bought a disc brake setup with rotors and calipers. I took the old disc from the original brakes and used the splines and welded them together. Made my own brackets for the calipers and used Wilwood master cylinders. The only thing that was a bit of a problem was that the brake housing had to be cut off to allow clearance. You have

To Disagree,
I said in my first sentence that following the rules is important. My point was that whether you float the finish or have a pulloff should not be of a big concern of a sponsor. It may be more important for that sponsor if all of the competitors show up at the next event rather than being broken at home fixing there stuff.

Following the rules is important for the pullers put I would say has little to do with sponsors. Sponsors are interested in how much coverage they will get for the dollars spent, most could care less about fair competition. If you ask any of NTPA sponsores about pulloffs they likely wouldn't know or care about them.
