Re: Pics-What The Connor Brothers Dad Used To Pull - 13 years ago
i always thought the 3505 was a perkins,i used to frequent some military salvage yards and seen some overhead valve heads that the flathead gasket would match, that might have been on the 427 cont tho.ferrys in mass.had the 3505 for a while didnt they, and did doug palmer ever run the 3505 too.by patches - Forum

Re: Why there are so few masseys... - 13 years ago
eddie.would you say the heads were more of a "problem" than the shorter stroke.i would think if the heads were able to support, say 1500,more rpms than the six cyl is currently turning, while running a slower final ratio, with the same ground speed as the six cyl,the performance of the tr should be somewhat equal.im basing this on the v8 having less tqe,but at a higher rpm,so the hp should be somewhby patches - Forum

Re: Why there are so few masseys... - 13 years ago
assuming all the tractors are 640,why wont the massey run at 640.at 640 ea cyl is 106 cuin,on a 6cyl..and 80 cuin on a v8,so the head on the 6 would have to flow more air to make the same tqe, since ea cyl is bigger..i always thought the head was the bad part on the perkins and the cat v8's..or am i wrongby patches - Forum

Re: Lower the temperature - thinking way oustide the box - 13 years ago
jim,i remember now, thats what was in the storage tanks, liquid nitrogen.it was in what looked to be a plain stainless holding tank.one of the workers got a cup of it and thru it on the floor,it instantly turned to what looked to be very small bb's.they kept saying it was the coldest stuff on earth,-300 or absolute 0.by patches - Forum
Re: Lower the temperature - thinking way oustide the box - 13 years ago
how could the average person get something to -6,standard freezers dont go that cold.while on a tour of american breeders, they commented that thier storage area was -300,or absolute 0,it was a liquid too.put that in there instead of all these majic potions.by patches - Forum
Re: My Opinion--It's all about time---Solution #3! - 13 years ago
it looks like part of the problem is 90% of the pulls are held on saturday,so a geographical circuit does no good because everyone has to go back home for the 5 idle week days.and the venues only host 1 pull per year, unlike racing which runs weekly shows, and when the big circuit comes to town it is a addition to the weekly shows.by patches - Forum

the magazine is called"wheels of time" it is published by the "aths",antique truck historical society.it is a monthly publication.im sure they have a web site.the featured truck resides in the next county west of me,have seen it many times pulling the trailer full of farm toys at canfield fair.talked to dad tonight about them,he only recalls the 844 being used, and at that time service seemed to bby patches - Forum
ac engines - 13 years ago
got the new wheels of time magazine off dad today ,and in it is a pretty good article about ac engines that were available in heavy trucks.the article states that they were painted purple and named"big al".also were the most powerful at that time at 450 hp.also states that the 301,426,516,were available in both na and turbocharged form.pretty good reading if your an ac fan.by patches - Forum
Re: Re:My Opinion--It's all about time!--Solution #2 - 13 years ago
dick, what would you say draws pullers to the event.i can see where at tomah or bg it could be the prestige of saying ,i finished in ,whatever place they did,or just saying i pulled there.aside from that, would the draw be,just having somewhere to pull,or the points that would be earned.i can see a better turnout of pullers and fans if the events had some prestige to them, instead of just going to pby patches - Forum
