Whatever the case for Esdon it is nice to see him back out and 2 shots at it. Are minis the new TWD? - 7 years ago
Whenever styles change, you hear something like"orange (or whatever color you want) is the new black." In the 80s when the TWD class took off, many guys who formerly pulled mods built one. Many who still ran mods added a 2 wheeler to the existing mod, and lots of guys got into the sport because one engine was affordable whereas 3 or 4 were not. Now it seems like minis are becoming fashionabby The Original Michael - Forum

Re: Perfect test (psst.. Blue Shirts) - 7 years ago
I agree with Dick the best thing for the Super Stock class is reunification. Despite some people on here getting the vapors about the subject, it would generate lots of interest from fans. Steve Burge's test pass at BG last year ( or John Raymond's finish in SSO the year before that) are small sample sizes Here is a modest proposal for a larger sample on a good track: Next year, theby The Original Michael - Forum
Re: Time to address legacy classes in National pulling - 7 years ago
Speaking from a numbers standpoint, Richard is partially correct. Pros are expensive, but both major circuits, and even Outlaws if you want to include their version, have good numbers. NTPA unlimiteds had 10 precommits and good turnout at their Super National events. Diesel Supers are a dying class but even that class should have a few more vehicles on average in 2017. Re: Mandating something vs allowing something - 7 years ago
As a disinterested bystander- there is a huge difference between mandaring something (A pumps only) and allowing something (either type ok). I have read a number of posts over the past few years from mid Atlantic folks about how Forresters have beaten P pump tractors, or how the A pump guys have ran even with (and even beaten) P pump guys at Gordyville. No argument here. Those are true statemeby The Original Michael - Forum
Re: Full Metal Jacket - 7 years ago
I suppose folks dont build a pulling tractor with "is going to be easy to get rid of?" as the first thought, but the more "niche" your vehicle is, seems like the harder it would be to find a buyer. That said, it only takes 1 person who's check clears to like itby The Original Michael - Forum
Full Metal Jacket - 7 years ago
For what its worth, Joel Kingen has one of the toughest pro stocks around with MM sheetmetal and a JD engine. He's been trying to sell it for over half a year, and based on him putting up another ad, it appears there aren't many takers.by The Original Michael - Forum
What was pulling like in the Silverdome? - 7 years ago
I was too young to independently travel there when they ran the pulls. Is it correct they pulled there during the 70s and 80s? If anyone on here ever attended a Silver Dome pull, were they good events? How large was attendance? Did they only run mods and FWD, or were there Super Stocks too?by The Original Michael - Forum
Open/Unlimited Supers: NTPA and PPL Schedules - 7 years ago
The schedules for this class (mostly) line up. The only points conflict is Hamburg and Bowling Green. While it would be possible to hook at Hamburg Thursday, come to BG Friday afternoon, go to Hamburg Friday night, and back to BG Saturday afternoon, realistically that isn't going to happen. I know Chizek did both events in the LSS class a year ago, but that only involved 1 trip, not two.by The Original Michael - Forum
Rare NTPA and Louisville footage from 1972ish - 7 years ago
Found this rare video. It appears to be produced by NTPA but shows lots of Louisville footage. In the early days there may have been some affiliation between Louisville and NTPA? I am guessing this was 1972 (maybe 71) because of the shots of Al Arnold. Does anyone recognize any of the tractors in this video? Roar of Powerby The Original Michael - Forum
How do you define "farm stock"? - 7 years ago
Is it straight out of the field? Is it 3000 rpm or below (as some brush pulls in my state of Indiana seem to define it),or somewhere in between? What is a reasonable definition of a farm stock pulling tractor?by The Original Michael - Forum
Amended Bowling Green schedule - 7 years ago
Here is the latest. My thought: I knew with 6 mod classes and 5 sessions, the unlimiteds and light unlimiteds would double up, just expected it to be in session V. Unlimiteds run on Thursday then not til Saturday night. Good news: Open Supers on Saturday afternoon means some of the PPL unlimited supers can now pull at BG. What are your thoughts? The Billy Biers tractor is owned by the Charpilloz family from the pacific northwest. They are in process of taking it from a 3 engine tractor to a 5 engine tractor. After over $3 million spent, numerous examples of the left getting the vapors, a bunch of lawyers and crackpot, kook theories, the final Wisconsin recount showed Trump picked up 162 votes. Silly rule - 7 years ago
According to the hstpa website, there were fewer than 10 vehicles running for points in mods, lss, limited pro, twd and fwd in 2016. Heavy ss had a dozen, of which several were light pros, and the light pros were the only class with 10 vehicles built for that class. Yet, you want 10 hot farms to pay up in the next 4 weeks? Why don't you require the other classes to get 10 members? I knowby The Original Michael - Forum

Re: Perhaps I can help - 7 years ago
Maybe an alternative way of doing what Dick suggests is adopting what NHRA does with their Lucas Oil series. They know top alcohol dragsters and funny cars arent going to make every race. They get points toward their championship at both national and divisional events. They can race at as many as they like, but get points for their best 6 out of 8 events for both national and divisional races.by The Original Michael - Forum
Re: Throwback Thursday with Eric Prewitt The Godfather - 7 years ago
Thanks Eric. I asked this in the other thread, but could Larry clarify if the restrictor plates are only for multi charger tractor classes? If not, why not be proactive and do the same thing for multi charger SS Diesel Trucks and multi charger Super Semis? Question: Can someone clarify? - 7 years ago
What is considered a "Super Stock" class for purposes of the restrictor plate rule. Hang with me a second....... Does it only refer to SS Diesel, SS Open, and Light SS tractors? What about multi charger Super Semis or multi charger Super Stock Diesel FWDs? Do Semis and SSD FWD also have to use restrictor plates, or is this only on tractors? QuoteSo So on the nights the tickets cost $40 per seat you get to see four classes and on Friday night tickets are $45 for three classes that doesn't make much sense. The $40 nights tended to be less well attended than the other nights. I could be wrong, but I would also not be surprised if the sessions with 4 classes have 10-12 vehicles per class instead of the customary 15. We'llby The Original Michael - Forum
Re: NTPA REGION 2 QUESTIONNAIRE - 7 years ago
Pro stock will draw a lot of fans. If you are willing to reach out to the pullers, you should be able to get the 10-12 pullers. There is Harmon, Smith, Ahrens, Stone, Jr. Miller, Walters, Hoffman, John Young, Deppen, Overmeyer if he gets his out next year. Thats 10 right there. Recommendation to Curious Promotor - 7 years ago
After reading this thread, here is a recommendation. 1) Keep in mind the Saturday after Labor Day in eastern Indiana/western Ohio already has an established HSTPA pull at Lynn, IN (which I believe may have been a Region II pull in the past). For that reason, Light Pros, Heavy Supers, and FWDs are out as those are the classes they typically choose on the exact day you want to have your pull.by The Original Michael - Forum
Re: Doug, consider this - 7 years ago
Hear hear! Please leave the rules alone. Maybe limit to 16-20 hooks max, with 4 for your "playoff" if you're doing that next year. Or, if a rule is changed, just call it a Heavy SS class and allow your LSS alkies with the 504s run with them. Steve Burge proved at Bowling Green a top DSS can run with a top Unlimited Super which Outlaws doesnt offer. Ulmer and Goodwin heads up vs Wiens,by The Original Michael - Forum
Re: Why not Pro Stocks? - 7 years ago
Many region pulls run sanctioned NTPA classes first then brush classes. You could schedule 3 classes, 1 being RN minis, then have a non-sanctioned limited mini class afterward. There used to be a Central Indiana mini group, not sure if they are still around. I believe there are mini clubs in OH and MI. Perhaps one of these groups could sanction ( or cosanction) a limited mini class. Doingby The Original Michael - Forum
