Re: Topic for Throwback Thursday with Eric Prewitt - 8 years ago
Hi Eric. Long time listener, first time caller, lol. I saw a comment by Bill Voreis, and I believe it was on Facebook. His comment, if I remember correctly, was about how he had a good season, but he mentioned he had 5 unlimited wins (that class had 14 hooks). He mentioned that was at least 2 more than anyone else. He finished 3rd in points. It was not negative or anything like that, but iby The Original Michael - Forum

Re: DSS John Deere vs IH - 9 years ago
Actually, they can keep up quite well, it's just there are a lot more IH tractors that run on the national circuit. In the past few years, John Raymond and Sieferts have won GN hooks, and Demers made finals at Louisville. All 3 are a threat anytime they hook. However, most of the time you will have maybe 2 of these guys against 10 internationals, so the odds are that a red one will be onby The Original Michael - Forum
NTPA got it right this year - 9 years ago
Kudos to NTPA for a getting a good balance of hooks for their GN mod classes in 2015. There has been legitimate criticism sbout aspects of scheduling (R2 Lt Pros still have too many points hooks), but overall they have a much more balanced schedule. Unlimiteds have 14 hooks, Mods have 12 hooks, and Lt Unlimiteds have 13 hooks if I counted correctly. That is enough to have a good series but nby The Original Michael - Forum
Light Pro Stock as a Grand National class - 9 years ago
It’s time NTPA made the Light Pro Stock class a full-fledged Grand National class. In 5 years, it has grown to the point where there are now sufficient numbers and geographical coverage to justify it as a GN level division. The organization would need to avoid the temptation to overschedule it, but there should be no problem getting 10 vehicles to precommit. There have been 58 different Liby The Original Michael - Forum
Re: When did the 7 engine modified era end? - 9 years ago
I believe 1991 was the last year for the 9200 mod class. In 1992, I believe, NTPA ran an 8200 mod class for a year of 2. Imo, this was one of the best weights they had as you had Banters and Vernon Kourey with 6 engines, and Knox, Walsh, Jaske, Piper, etc with 5 engines, and Gardner also. NTPA also ran 7,400 and 8,400 weights for a year after this, then 7,600 lbs. They couldn't find a wby The Original Michael - Forum

PPL allows 3 allisons in their mod class, correct? Is the Diekman "Rat Poison" tractor going to run 2 or 3 allisons when they hook in Champions Tour classes?by The Original Michael - Forum

1980 - 10 years ago
The Louisville Courier Journal used to publish the top 3 and sometimes have an article. For some reason, I remember this year. I believe Ed Carmichael won, Joel Armistead was 2nd with the 6030, and Kevin Armistead was 3rd with a 4430 that used to be owned by Don Eldert (the old "Gypsy). Speaking of Gypsy, this tractor won the 15SS class 2 years in a row before, maybe in '77 and '78.by The Original Michael - Forum

NTPA: Why??? - 10 years ago
New rule: Light Unlimited: A maximum of two (2) supercharged or turbocharged (no naturally aspirated or turbines) piston engines at 6000 lbs. (These rules are locked in for a three year period) I agree with the 2 super/turbocharged engine limit. That part of the rule makes sense. However, why no turbines? The reasoning given for disallowing them under the prior "Unlimited" rules was tby The Original Michael - Forum
Re: Allow turbines - 10 years ago
If they go to a 2 engine limit, which I hope they do, then I would also get rid of the ban on turbines in the class and allow 1 T-64 or 55, maybe 2 of the 53s. Since it would technically be a "limited" class, then the fear that someone would show up with 3 t-64s is moot. Let them run. It could help with numbers.by The Original Michael - Forum
NTPA Light Unlimited class- just an idea - 10 years ago
Larry has posted on the NTPA website that next year they probably make it a 2 engine limit and lower the weight. Hopefully this will get more guys to run the class. One other idea that is obvious (imho) is also to allow the turbines. I read that the reason they were disallowed is that in an "unlimited" class there may guys running 3 t-64s at 6200 lbs. Now that it appears that it's goinby The Original Michael - Forum

If anyone knows (and somebody does), can you provide the historical background on the development of the LLSS class for both Badger State and ORVTPA? When did these groups start to run this class? How have the rules changed from when the class started?
