Re: proposed class weight & ci limit - 11 years ago
I would suggest either the current 6,200 lbs, or no more than 6,500 lbs. Personally, I'd recommend keeping maximum ci at 505 for this reason: Guys have already spent the $$ building their v8's for a 505 ci class. Plus, if the rule is rescinded, then everyone is running the same size limitations.by The Original Michael - Forum
Attention: All pullers building a LSS v8 (idea) - 11 years ago
As a fan of the sport, I disagree with the NTPA's recent LSS rule decision. As has been pointed out, there are significant differences between the LSS and Open SS classes that would make it more challenging for a v8 to dominate. I do not know the truth about threatened boycotts, but if that's true, it's a black eye to both the pullers involved, and the NTPA as an organization. Nby The Original Michael - Forum
Ohio/In NA SS vs IPA Outlaw tractors: What's the difference? - 11 years ago
What are the rule differences between the naturally aspirated super stocks that run in Eastern Indiana and Ohio, and the Outlaw IPA class? Both run at 6500 lbs. Looks on video like the In/Oh tractors are hotter. Any experts out there who can clarify what the rule differences are?by The Original Michael - Forum
For Chris Meints - 11 years ago
Chris, thank you for attending Bowling Green. I've never seen your tractor before and it was nice to see it run. Sorry about the breakage on Saturday. I realize that you were pre-committed to PPL, and could have driven to Hamburg; and also Wisner is much closer to home than northwest Ohio. Thanks again for attending, and I hope someday you'll consider running there again. Donby The Original Michael - Forum

(Had some time today with nothing to do, and got to thinking about Bowling Green in a couple weeks. The creative juices got flowing, and here is an essay about how the Bowling Green experience could be improved from one fan's perspective. This is in 3 parts. DOT rules: Would this affect pulling much? - 11 years ago
The story below is about the California DOT implementing rules which will make it more of a hassle and more expensive for NHRA teams to compete there (and I assume NASCAR and many other motorsports series). Now, before people get on my case that 1) this is California where none of the major sanction bodies go, and 2) this is NHRA, not pulling...... my larger question is if any state which isby The Original Michael - Forum
Re: My Opinion- National Pulling Needs a Overhaul - 11 years ago
Quoteold rookie the rules or limits need to be set and then left alone . everyone wants to win and thats what it is all about, but just like nhra the basic rules have not changed for years I agree with a lot of what you've said, but as a drag racing enthusiast, I have to correct the record here. NHRA changes rules all the time. The teams have blown through more money than you can count aby The Original Michael - Forum

Pulling Hall of Fame (Modifieds) - 12 years ago
It would be cool if there were a pulling Hall of Fame (not tied to any one organization). I got to thinking which mod pullers would be in, if there was one. Most of these are National guys (and ran NTPA, primarily because it's got by far the longest history). There are probably some great state level pullers who should be in as well, maybe we can get some input. Here are people I thinkby The Original Michael - Forum

How many McKinnons pulled? - 12 years ago
Anyone know? What's the most you ever saw pull at the same event? I'm not positive cause I was a young'un then, but I vaguely remember at the Indiana State Fair in about '75, there was a Jimmy who ran a D-21 in the 7SS (Joker?), Herb who ran a white and black D-21 in the heavy class, and they have have had a 7050 or D-21 in the heavy classes.by The Original Michael - Forum
The best class ever? - 12 years ago
I've seen this video about half a dozen times over the past few months. I do not get tired of it. Great camera work, great editing, and love the last few minutes. I wish I could have been there live, but this had to be the best class at any event in 2011, and maybe one of the best ever, especially considering how much was on the line. Yes. I remember Ray Hunter from Norman, IN. He ran a D-21 SS in the heavy classes. I think he quit pulling around '75 or '76. I remember my dad talking with him at a few pulls.by The Original Michael - Forum
Re: AC s from Indiana - 12 years ago
I remember going to lots of pulls with my dad around Indiana back in the 70s and 80s, and at least in the Hoosier state, there were lots of them. How many orgs run N/A tractor classes? I've been to a few IPA events in the past several years, and their N/A class has had a good turnout with Deeres, Cases, MF, Olivers, IHs, and even a White. Got me to wondering if other organizations run N/A classes, and what weight do they run at? I think the IPA runs as 12000 but not positive. Re: Attn: BOTH Limited PS and Light PS pullers in Indiana/OH/KY/MI - 12 years ago
Honestly, I suspect maybe never. The Light Pros will be there years before the limited pros, reason being in just 2 years it has become an established class. If every single Light Pro in Region II showed up to a pull this year, there would have been between 20-25 of them, with more tractors either being built or converted from other classes (likely) for 2012. Did Steve Jobs have an influence on the sport of pulling? - 12 years ago
I don't use a mac, own an i-pod/pad/phone,etc. However, I can see how Mr. Jobs and his company have influenced many of the things in my life through the technologies he developed. My question is: Did Steve Jobs have an impact on the sport of pulling, and if so, in what ways?by The Original Michael - Forum

My understanding is the new 4.1 turbo rule is not for the Light Pro Stock class. Rather, it's for their Limited Pro Stock class, which has been on the books for a few years, but is rarely, if ever, run.by The Original Michael - Forum
My problem with the rules - 12 years ago
I flat don't understand the no turbine rule. If they are worried someone will put several on and dominate, well, tough. An unlimited should be "run what you brung had hope you brung enough". I believe 2 t-64s wouldn't necessarily dominate anyway. It's one thing to have a lot of horsepower. It's another thing entirely to get it hooked to the track and keep it going strby The Original Michael - Forum
Re: Lucas Oil / PPO - 12 years ago
There have been rumblings in the drag racing world that Lucas Oil is going to pull back on sponsorship for 2012. Whether that happens, we'll know next February at Pomona. Correct you are, Todd. During one of the day sessions at BG, they asked about the dirt and track building process. The said just that about the organic matter- they put organic matter into it. Also, they use what they call "Pine Sol" (not sure if it's actually pine sol, or some substance that they've just given that name to), instead of just water on the sprayers.
