I can't vouch for these engines, but years ago when they started using the oil leaking, vibrating C Cummins in trucks we had to constantly pull front covers to repair or replace for oil leaks. We used wood dowels from the hardware store. Taper 1 end on a bench grinder, then cut a small slot in that end to let it collapse a bit. Gently tap into lifter, raise up, and wire tie the pa

First of all thanks a lot! I, as well as others, really appreciate you putting this together. The format work well for me and I have no complaints. Next year I'm going to set a weekly reminder to get my picks turned in. I missed the deadline a couple weeks because I got busy with life and forgot about it. I'll be ready to go for next year, thanks again!

Interesting, 5.5 hours from my doorstep one way. Funny thing is I’ll be in Illinois later tonight, unfortunately no where near that tractor though.

Thanks for the education. It definitely makes sense for me to move this tractor on and pick up one more suited to my needs/goals. I guess cheap is a relative term. I know none of it is cheap, but it is cheap to me if I would happen to scatter a flywheel and cause injury to another person or myself. I’m looking forward to finding the right tractor and getting to work! Appreciate all the info/

You need to find a 970-1070 8 speed tractor or chassis as you can not put an 8 speed trans in a 1370, the steel flywheel most likely isn't needed at 3000 RPM, the clutch housing on all power shift tractors is wet, meaning it has trans oil in it, plus the fact of the power shift drum and planetary spinning over 3000 RPM isn't a good idea. As far as the 1370 trans problem you

Sounds like I may need to start looking at other tractors to meet my goals. I'm trying to avoid a whole bunch of work on the driveline of this tractor, just to do it again in the future to swap in an 8 speed trans. I guess time and money would be better spent on a different tractor.

Sounds like you might have a sticky spool in the control valve on the right hand side of the trans housing. Not returning all the way/at all causing things to keep moving. Most bolt the torque limiter to the flywheel, and then shim the pressure relief valve to get some more charge pressure.
That being said I don’t think it’s worth do all that. Lots of work and will still have man

Many factory mods were offered back in the day and a few people that knew those trannies really worked magic with them, however most are gone and Dead, most around here use the 8 speed. The power shift is fine if in great shape adjusted correctly for starting, but overall use and future updates might require the 8 speed.I had one with stock engine, 3000 rpms and high air pressure18.4

First off check all your cable linkage for proper adjustment on the ps valve an clutch pedal.
I will look into that, thanks! I was curious if it was a cable style or linkage or hydraulic style. (I haven’t had a chance to look into it yet). I have a service manual on order so that should offer some guidance when I need it.

I should add that this tractor sat for about 15 years in a barn before I acquired it.

I had a Case 1370 with 5700 hours fall into my lap recently and I have interest in pulling with it (6-10mph classes, maybe more in the future). The tractor is not needed for anything farm work related so it will be a track queen only. It runs great and starts right up. As far as I know it is bone stock all the way down the muffler. A quick glance at the pump and it has the tamper wires intact

Are there any kits to head stud a case 504? If not is their any kits that use the same dimensions? Or do I have to get custom studs made?
Kind of off topic…..but at what point does the 504 need head studs? Are you lifting the head(s) now or is this preventative maintenance?

In my area of Southwest Ohio most straight off the farm classes are called Pure Farm. Generally they have a 3, 5, or 6 mph speed limit, working pto, 3 point arms, cast centers (no pressed steel), 2850rpm (some places 3k), no cut tires, factory style injection pump, no pusher pumps, no water or methanol etc. It works pretty well to keep an even field for the tractors that can farm all day and go

You’re fighting a losing battle 50 town in a farm start class
I was wondering the same thing. To the original poster: Are you using a 5010 because you already have one? Or are you buying one to compete with?

The guys @ Rockwell we’re betting on if the next tractor went further or shorter than the leader. Seemed to work pretty good.
Which reminds me of this one:
A person sets a distance for the whole class before the first hook. Then the players bet on whether the individual tractors will go shorter or farther than that par distance.
We have done this style in the past. We s

July 28 Elkhart county fair. Goshen, IN. We will have classes from 8500# up to 21000#. 3000 rpm no speed limit. Plus PPL the night before and the 28th on the other track.
I've been to this pull several times and it is well worth it. Awesome facility and definitely a good show. Unfortunately I can't make it this year but I will be back!

Any pulls in Southern Illinois Saturday July 9th? I’m in Murphysboro, Illinois (Zip: 62966) for a wedding and the wedding got postponed because of the groom testing positive for Covid today. I am now available and looking for a pull to go to. Any pulls are welcome. Brush pulls, farm stock, trucks, tractors, semis, fair pulls…….anything going on? This is not my area so I’m trying to find some
