Re: Growing pulling - 5 months ago
Bob, those are are nice wish list. Never going to happen, if there was a national appetite for pulling the major networks would be board casting it. Those that love the sport think " if people would just go to one pull they would love it to" , well that's not how it works. Pulling is niche sport. Name me the largest city that has a national pulling event, it's a middle America sport. Tby Dick Morgan - Pulling Forum

Re: Growing pulling - 5 months ago
Let's try and keep this a sensible discussion, there is a limit for hemi type V8 engines, is there not. And don't enter any other motorsports in this situation, they all have big money sponsors, not truck and tractor pulling it's all team financed.by Dick Morgan - Pulling Forum
Re: Growing pulling - 5 months ago
Not sure if that really answered why the HP game has helped grow certain classes or the sport overall? All the growth in pulling has been in the 3000 HP and below classes. And didn't NTPA outlaw the 6,7 and 8 engine mods, why, if it was so great for the class and the sport, why? And if that's the case why have any cubic inch or fuel limits at all, sounds crazy and it is.by Dick Morgan - Pulling Forum

I hardly think the HP game was done right. Tell how it's helped the sport?by Dick Morgan - Pulling Forum
Re: Growing pulling - 5 months ago
This nonstop HP game is killing pulling not growing it. It's a insane approach that leadership seems helpless to prevent, and it's a useless game. Every time the HP goes up in any class the sled operator just adds more weight to the sled and we have the same show. So what's the upside of more HP , nothing and the downside is more breakage, more money, less competitors, a net gaiby Dick Morgan - Pulling Forum

It's time to stop lying to the pullers. - 5 months ago
What people say and what people do can be two very different things. I have read on the page countless times that the members voted on something and leadership did what they wanted anyway. Pulling needs to decide if it's a members run organization or a leadership [ dictatorship] run organization. I personally don't have a problem with leadership making all the decisions, however be upby Dick Morgan - Pulling Forum

Re: Pulling in the future (or not)? - 5 months ago
I realize that my opinion will not set well with a lot of people. However I wonder if there is any real growth possibility in the sport. Let's start with the national organizations. Unfortunately they have had the same product year after year. No vision, no new ideas. They never thought that cubic inches in the tractor classes would be a problem, sure 680 cubic inches in PS should beby Dick Morgan - Pulling Forum

Re: Who is running the NTPA? - 5 months ago
I apologize for the wording of my question, I should have asked who is making the rules at NTPA. Gregg does a great job within his role at NTPA. And why do you think I would call Gregg or anyone else in any organization to find out information. I believe that you have way more access to Gregg than I do. I write opinion articles, thats it. That for you guys that run podcasts. And I do wish yoby Dick Morgan - Pulling Forum
Re: Single charger horsepower - 5 months ago
I agree on uniform rules, however only NTPA and PPL have basically the same rules. Outlaws have a couple classes that also match the other two organizations, but the bulk of Outlaw classes have rules that don't align with with NTPA and PPL.by Dick Morgan - Pulling Forum
Who is running the NTPA? - 5 months ago
I am wondering who is running the NTPA, is it Ned, or Vaughn, or the pullers or maybe a certain class, or a small group of select people? I'm fairly certain that I understand the leadership structure of both PPL and Outlaws, just confused on who is really making the decisions at the NTPA.by Dick Morgan - Pulling Forum
Re: Light Pro -Limited pro ideals - 5 months ago
I do agree that the lines are getting blurred between tractors and highly modified tractors. Unfortunately the gains in HP shine a light on changes that need to happen. A cast rear-end that was built for 150 HP or less can't handle the 2500+ HP that some classes are now generating. The one one rule I would like to see is the " any sheet metal any engine " not implemented, stay within the OEMby Dick Morgan - Pulling Forum
Re: Bowling Green - 5 months ago
One thing I know is Sunday afternoon sessions are not very popular. Fans want to be on the road Sunday morning and pullers have to get back to their jobs. The biggest problem with adding a 14th class is parking. I would think that SF and or 4.1 could hook in a Thursday afternoon session and again Friday night. That's if BG adds a Thursday afternoon session.by Dick Morgan - Pulling Forum
List of NTPA hooded GN and regional tractor classes. - 5 months ago
Let's start with highest HP classes down. The top 3 are OSS, DSS PS, not sure how they should be ranked on just the HP question. And this is about the top tractor in each class. Next in order LSS: 5.0: Lt.PS: 4.1: SF: HF: LLSS: CS:. First I would like input on the OSS, DSS, and PS. And also please rearrange the order for the rest of the tractors. Thank you.by Dick Morgan - Pulling Forum
Component chassis 4.1 and Lt.PS? - 5 months ago
I believe that the NTPA will allow components in 2027 for 4.1 and/or Lt.PS. I would think that if they allow components in one they will make them both at the time. And will the the SF stay a GN class and if so will they also be allowed to go component?by Dick Morgan - Pulling Forum

Re: NTPA just killed SF class. - 5 months ago
Yes, the SF will not go away, there is plenty of state and regional shows that will sanction the class. However in time it will kill the class at the GN level. And I believe it will be replaced by the Lt.PS class.by Dick Morgan - Pulling Forum

NTPA just killed SF class. - 5 months ago
The NTPA just added the 4.1 class to their GN classes. I believe that this will basically kill the SF class. And for those that thought we already had to many hooded single turbo classes, now you have one more.by Dick Morgan - Pulling Forum

Re: NTPA rules, 2026 - 6 months ago
There may be no interest with the DSS pullers, however you are not trying to tell me that the combined DSS OSS class at the NFMS hasn't generated good fan interest, you know that it has. And I've heard that same "wait until next year " song over and over. Yes at a couple of NTPA events the numbers are good for the first session with at least a 30% drop off for session 2. Re: NTPA rules, 2026 - 6 months ago
Bob, without combining the DSS and OSS they both will die. The DSS class is almost identical to the Semi class, 5 showup and there is 1 really good one. The DSS class has already proven that they can compete with the OSS. There is also will be more fan interest in a combined class. And let's face it, in both classes, there are no more than 5 tractors in either class that can be counted onby Dick Morgan - Pulling Forum
