IH hydraulics on an open rpm tractor April 05, 2012 12:34PM
If a guy was to convert from a 3000 rmp tractor to open rpms, how long could he expect a factory hydraulic pump to work? The tractor I have the concerns with is a factory no TA, but I do want to retain my power steering, and factory brake setup. Is it possible, or will I grenade my pump behind the mcv at the line?

466 hot farm. Open rpm. My pump and turbo combination have no affect on the hydraulics, just wondering if the rpms will take the pump out. My chassis is a factory no TA 1566, so putting brakes on it is really a challenge. I would have to make top hats the size of 50 gallon drums to get over top of my planetaries!

My friend is running a 1206 with 466 turning over 5000 rpm off line with no problem. Good luck and have fun.

I ran a 525 with a 3.15 X 3.6 around 5300rpms off line and no problems. I would recommend deleting the TA and going to a straight shaft. Good luck!

It won't be an issue, bill miller still had hydraulic brakes and power steering on the red mule up til he quit pulling it a cpl years ago and we have never had an issue with ours either

Thanks for the support guys! Like I said, all I need it to do is run the brakes and steering!
