Unique can build good farm tractor clutches but if you want one to work in a pulling tractor take it to KEE CEE clutches in Kansas City Mo. He's way more knowledgable than Unique is and cheaper to. Believe me I know from experience. KEE- CEE REBUILDERS, 1815 Charotte St. Kansas City, Mo. Ph # 816-842-7398. The mans name is Dave.

get a 4320 pressure plate setup with heavy springs installed. also put in a button pad disk.
available through All States Ag Parts. call them and specify its for a 4010

What is done to tractor and what kind of power is it putting out? Speed limit or open speed? You can get heavier clutch disk and try to modify springs but it still may not hold. If you get too much tension built up with springs you can break the 3/8" bolts that holds the clutch assembly together and clutch wont disengage and parts will be warped. Kenny has 2 disk non sfi clutches on website but you will have to move to larger input shaft.

I have a JD clutch in my 4320 right now that holds my 425HP. It has IH springs with shims behind them and also the puck style disk. It will be for sale this winter. 989-550-8306

It has been a while since I had a John Deere but back in the day running 3000 RPM Itook a stock 20 Series flywheel, used the tall square pins and a floater plate out of a 30/40 series. Had High Capicity make me two clutch discs, measured everything, machined the flywheel, floater and pressure plate to get enough clearance, put hi capicity springs in it and made my oun double disc. It was pretty stout. I dont reccomend doing this to anything that runs over 3000 RPM!

I am building it for my cosin it has a 404 out of a 4430 in it bigger turbo and injectors estimated 300 hp we would love to put a clutch in it like my three disc i got from kenny but watching what we spend is looking for other options i hear a button disc with 5020 springs works well

don't be cheap , spend it now or spend it twice later, clutch and transmission is the cheapest part and will save you much frustration in the future i know !!! been there done it. , twice (slow stubborn learner)

Which is cheaper? A well built clutch that is SFI approved
or, a lawsuit over a shattered flywheel etc.

I would tell your buddy to park it until he hits
the lottery or saves enough.

1 accident is 1 too many.

First,4320 clutch is 12" and 4020 clutch is 11".With the power you are making just put in a button clutch with a stock springs.I ran stock disc for for years making approx. 300 hp.Clutch never slipped.

Re: 4010 clutch ways to help it hold August 03, 2012 09:14AM
you may try it but in my 4010, with a stock 404 turbo/inline pump, clutch would slip in 7th gear. I dont know that a single disk will ever hold with fuel/turbo work done to engine, especially if you are thinking of increasing rpms.
