Turbo exhaust fins

I keep destroying the fins off the exhaust side of the turbo. I can't run water in my class. Have a jcb rotary pump maxed out with fuel. Timing at 20 advanced. Running at 3000 rpm's. Turbo builder says something going through the exhaust side but can't find anything wrong to do that. Gone through 3 turbos I think it is just too much fire. Any suggestions on a solution? |

how many cc's of fuel are you running? What turbo are you using and what exhaust housing is on it? A thing to do is have a boost gauge for intake air going into intake manifold from turbo, but also have a tap coming off of exhaust manifold by turbo flange to pressure gauge and see how equal those 2 pressures are. If exhaust pressure is so much higher than intake boost temperature you need a bigger exhaust housing on turbo.
What are you running for a fuel supply pump and how much pressure is it putting out? |

it runs between 2300 and 2600F. Does that seem like a lot? |

Holy crap! I'm surprised you haven't melted the entire engine. !500-1600 is pushing it. |

I hope you mean 1300 to 1600 |

I'm sure I meant 2300 to 2600F, I learned how to count pretty early on, I think it was the 10th grade or earlier. Here is a pic of the pyrometer from the last run. |

that's why you are burning up turbos way too hot |

Are you sure that's the issue? I am running 1500ccs of fuel at 20 degrees of timing, it sounds right to me. |

sounds like 150 and 0 timing to me |

1500ccs out of a rotary pump? is that even possible? |

I don't know who the 2nd , 3rd or 4th jd43's are but they are not the original poster. I am running about 325cc off a jcb rotary pump with stock supply pump. Farm stock/enhanced. Running a 2.5 x 2.5 turbo. If I can't figure it out I am going to cut the fuel back and put the stock 2" charger back on. I never had an issue until I got more fuel. I guess I shouldn't have asked. Thanks anyway! |

can you give it more fuel or is your pump maxed out now? You can try the intake boost versus exhaust drive pressure and see how close it is. If its got a really tight housing on exhaust you may need a little bigger one. Is turbo a 3lm? You can also put a pressure gauge in between transfer pump and injection pump to see how much fuel pressure you have under load.
Im running into same issue. 250cc of fuel, 18* timing, and 3lm33 turbo with small housing building 50 pounds of boost, high egts. Im going to advance timing and install 3lm-466. |

Yep, create an account and log in.2300 degrees is not believable to me.If that is true on your part then you better open up and tell us your complete setup.Hell that will melt a birds tail at 300ft. |

1500 ccs with a rotary pump. lol. wish my p pump would do that. |

advance your timing to 25 to 28. put more fire in cylinder not in manifold. |

Create an account and log in.. And you won't have the copy cat issues...
What boost pressures are you seeing.. What size exhaust housing.. Agree with above you neeed to check your drive pressures.. And advance your timing.. |

Second the above post. That's why I'm not a fan of being able to post without registering. You can't tell who is who, and someone can hijack the post just for kicks.
As for the original question, I know very little about the Deeres, other than their fuel timing from the factory is late compared to an IH, and the single charger red ones at the hot stock/cheater stock/hot farm, etc. class live in the 40 degree (advanced) neighborhood. It does sound like you need more timing. The fire is still burning when the exhaust valve opens, so you're cooking the turbine wheel of your charger. Get that fuel in there sooner so it's driving the piston down and not burning your charger up. |

Green motors don't need the timing red motors do, but you should be in the 25 to 30 range. that will keep the heat where it needs to be. You will be surprised at power gain. |

I thnk 4.1 puller has the right Idea if youadvance your timing it should cut back your EGT and that may save the prolbem |
