How to make a 585 cubic inch small block Deere engine??

The best running John Deere engine i had was a 585 cu. in. The bore was 4.750" and the stroke was 5.500". I'm sure there is other ways to get there, but this is what i did.

Do you change pin height in piston or change rods also??

I believe most guys run an ih rod from the 466?

We used Factory IH rods with 1.625 piston pins. We also had them heat treated and resized. The IH rod is not as wide as the Deere rod on the Crankshaft journal, so we just let them float and never had any problems.
