Allis 426
|
Just curious, what kinda power can you make with a 426 Allis block before she splits? Just wondering for buying one in the future if I can make the amount of power I want to without serious carnage. Thank you |

2500 is pretty safe, very much over that and your pushing your luck, 200lbs to 230 on boost is about all you want, much over that on a regular basis and the block will let go. |

Why wouldn’t you go with a 516? |

Depends on the rules of your class. Cubes and head have a lot to do with it. |

I think that would be more than plenty power wise, I just hear the odd person say they won’t take serious power. Does anybody know who builds some of the best Allis blocks in the USA? I could go 516, just wondered in general for the block itself, not necessarily cubes. Thank you for all the knowledge guys. |

I'd go series 40 if you are worried about block stability. |

The class will be a max 540, p pump. Just wanna get my ducks in a line before I spend the money. I may even get lucky and one comes up on here. |

If it is a 540 cube limit, and you are allowed a custom made cylinder head, if you spend as much money on injectors, injection pump, valves/lifters/camshaft and single turbo as all the Deere and IH guys do, you will be fine. |

Who makes these custom cylinder heads? Will having .250 shorter rods on a stroked crank hurt your power potential? (Ford diesel truck rods) |

At one point Indy Cylinder Head was doing AC 426 heads. |

Himes or Hines cylinder heads are what I hear about. Flows air comparable to IH or Deere. |
