What is everyone’s thought on building a 404 for a 430 cube class, will a quad range handle the shift? |

What other rules are you working with? Turbo? Weight? Tires? Injection pump? Speed?
With extra clutches and a little extra pressure the 6 bolt planet carrier quad from a 40 series and newer will handle breaking the trans before it gives up. |

No speed limit, 10,500 lbs, box charger, 2500 rpm, can run a p pump |

Which box charger? 3LM, GT42, or ???
Are you looking to have fun and finish respectable or run at the front? With a 2500 RPM limit you are going to want more stroke. 8.1 crank or more. Karl at Atlas should be able to set you up with the gears to turn a standard under drive quad into an overdrive with half the step up. The quad should hold up to a GT42, but the wet clutch wont last long, especially at that weight. With a 3LM you should be good. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/09/2022 11:19PM by Deere Puller. |

Which box charger? At 2500 rpm with a 404 I’m going to say wet clutch is going to be fine.what speed are most of your competitors running going down the track? |

We run a Raush wet clutch and a modified quad with a 7.6. Don't shift on the go. We broke the input shaft and damaged some gears 2 years ago and did not shift on the go. Running 10,500 Hot and Altered Farm class. Just a heads up if you want Atlas gears get them ordered asap. A guy that pulls with us was running a 466 with a guad and it finally puked. he always shifted on the go. He replaced the quad rear with a 4320 rear with synchro and dry clutch.
I'd say if you're going over the 600hp + range you are playing Russan Roulette. |

I have a set of quad gears (counteshaft and DDS gear) that takes out B range (I think it was) and makes a 7 3/4 gear LMK if interested |
