I'm guessin u wanna pull at Listie or New Centerville. Stock is 10mph or pure stock for 9500 or 11500 is 5mph I believe. Better stick with pure stock with that gas engine. 11500@ 10mph takes about 300hp. I got a 404t out of a 4430 that needs rebuilt really cheap. I'm also from Somerset not sure who u are yet. |

I'm new to the area and i heard new centerville is a bad place to pull unless you are pulling red and you are part of that group of friends. |

Some people talk too much! A "group of friends" does not run the pull! I don't know if ur new or just tryin to start something. Red, green, blue, or orange doesn't matter. Our pulls are trying 2 get more organized with rules, safety, and classes and there are some that like to argue and butt heads because they can! |

I enjoy pulling not fighting i just want some advice and maybe i should not listen to rumors. i just moved up here to farm in the new paris area |

Where did you move from? Most people up here do most of their own work or work together on a group of tractors. That gas engine could be a tough task to be competative with. Not saying its impossible. If u got a way 2 haul that 4440 that's the one I'd be playin with. I might be able to find u a diesel engine. |

Somerset puller,
Welcome to the area! I have a 4010 gas it is a lot of fun. These guys are right to a certain extent. Let me explain. A gas engine is competitive in the lighter classes (5500-7500) a 4020 is a lot heavier than a 4010. I don't know how light you can get a 4020. A gas engine needs to turn high RPM to be competitive versus diesel. This makes factory gas stuff unusable (gas cranks have less mains). The cam driven oil pump is very risky on these engines. I know some diesel guys use them, but gassers turn more rpms for longer amount of time (slower ground speed). If I would of had it to do over, I would never build another gas engine. We have fewer pulls every year to go to. Besides pump and turbo all other parts cost about the same. I have alot of parts that could help you get started if you are interested. |

will that 4430 motor fit my tractor and who can i get to work on pullers in the area |
Re: 4020 gas

Simple question the man asked!!!!! why cant he work with what he has? Keep in mind folks some peaple cant afford store bought tractors but love the sport of pullin.Talk to some drag racers they might be able to help you out with your gasser. Damn good thing Don Garletts didnt throw out the hemi and just go buy something else like a diesel motor!!! Cut out the negitivety and help the man out!!!!! |

I'm not being negative. He wants to use his gas engine that's fine. He said he wanted to build it! Therefore that means he had in mind to spend some money. Maybe a little, maybe a lot, his choice! Somersetpuller I think the test&tune @ Listie is the 15th. I'll check. |
Re: 4020 gas

Dremel tool, clean up intake holes, homemade header pipe, change camshaft vogle can help there, good spark ignition with rev limitr, av gas vp racing can help there, big block chev clutch, and strip off anything you dont need. make her light |

That 4440 should do good inthe 10mph class. I'm gonna see one of pull commitee members for Listie this afternoon, I'll ask if they're rescheduling the test@tune. |

There's a good bit in the pure stock a few in the stock and hot stock ZERO. I talked to Adam about the test pull. He's not sure they can reschedule before the 1st pull. Memorial day weekend. |
