Oliver 1955 Power July 22, 2011 12:01AM
I'm pulling an Oliver 1955 With everying stock except the pump had some work done on it. I'm at 130 HP now and I was wondering what else I could do to get more power out of it. I think I need more air. Does anyone know of a bigger turbo that would bolt right in?

Anything simple to get a few more HP?

put a cummins in it or that junk engine will spit a rod out the side as shur as turning the key

Do you know where there is detailed instruction for doing that?

Typical response, something is hard so give up on it. That's why it's always a IH/Deere war at the track because the minute someone asks for help on something different, they are rebuked and advised to either switch tractors or swap engines that may or may not be legal. While no Waukesha/Oliver engine will ever win a Pro Stock class, it can be a good speed limit tractor. I'm sure many thought Cope wouldn't get his Massey to the front of the pack, but he kept at it and look where he is now: among the top Pro Stock tractors in the country. Good for you, oliverbrl, for trying something different. Maibach Tractor can be a big help, whichever direction you want to go, whether it be the Cummins re-power (they have a wicked 1655 with a 5.9) or building up the 310.

Is there any video's of maibach's 1655/cummins?

It was at the show in Wooster last week and there was a pull I guess. I left before the pull started since it was a mud pit after that rain. I don't know of any videos of it at the moment, maybe someone will post one from the show.

If that is the case, why do you see a strong running 1655 LLSS in badger state running at the top of the pack with a 310. Junk, You Just are afraid of it or don't know how to build one.

PS the 1655 is Kevin Engelking from Rock City, IL. Phone 815-865-5564

Amen Bill. I'd love to watch Engleking run that thing down the track. I think that LLSS class would be big if more sanctioning bodies adopted it into their systems.

I agree to the previous two posts. What the NTPA should do is replace the Super Farm class with a LLSS class with rules just like Badger State Tractor Pullers. There would be much more color and variety as a 9600 Ford with a single charger could win one night and a 1855 Oliver with twins could win the next. Who wants to watch 10 year-old Pro Stocks lug off the line only to puke at the 290' mark anyway?
The NTPA rules are set up for the two major brands: IH and JD, so it's very difficult for someone to run an off-brand puller. More power to you if you choose to march to the beat of a different drum and even more if you're at the head of the pack.
