You probably need to specify which organization(s) as I don’t think they are all on the exact same page yet.

The profit thing is chicken/egg. If our money supply has doubled since the China virus, then 29% profit increases aren’t keeping up because true inflation is more than 29%.
Jake, I’m curious, what % of Trump spending was before vs after the China virus start of lockdown?

You didn’t give us a lot to go on. What is the current bore and stroke? Budget? Goals?
Honestly it depends upon what more bore does for your head flow and what your bore/stroke ratio is now. Generally, adding more stroke to a diesel is almost never a bad idea, especially in a limited RPM class.
My guess from the description is a 426 AC in a 466 class. Based upon that guess, if it’s in t

I agree with Jake.
I now wish we had gone the way Europe did with restrictor plates instead of wheel size limits. Slots in the OEM configuration are a good thing, the forward facing ‘slots’ are a dodge of the intent of the rules. Now they are taking one blade at a time out of the inlet. No doubt they could have gone straight to 2 blade wheels, but then they would have missed out on the ‘upg

My problem is the lack of transparency on what they are trying to accomplish. If anyone thinks ALL pieces of the turbine wheel can be contained they don’t understand physics very well.

Carlson, one problem with your thought process is this being a performance advantage means that others have to do it, even if they don’t feel it’s safe, or give their competition the advantage.

We were told that SFI is working on a spec. I HOPE this rule mirrors the spec.
Option 3 looks to be the only one retrofittable to the Holset, Schweitzer, and Air Research/Garrett turbos. This part of that one could use a sketch.

#1 never has made sense to me. Curious on their thought process on it.
I get the thought on #2 & 3, but where do you draw the line. Engine builders and pump shops have been giving their best customers their best parts forever. How does NTPA propose to ‘even that out’?

I think their bigger concern is that with 10 points chasers in a class of 50, 1 or 2 that are in a significantly different pull position that the others can be helped OR hindered significantly by a track that changes in a big class.
I honestly don’t understand why anyone has their panties in a bunch over this. The track doesn’t always get better or worse, so it’s not like they are asking to

In theory raising the weight lowers the emphasis on lightweight carbon fiber and titanium, but I don’t think 100# really helps that. I’d prefer to see it @ 6000# too. Mandating a lower hitch height would be more effective in combating expensive lightweight parts if that is really the goal.

IMHO this is more like the points chasers getting to qualify as a group in NASCAR or NHRA. In the race(s) everyone is running at the same time, qualifying is when track condition changes could make a big change in results because they are competing against each other, but at different times and potentially different track conditions.

It would involve moving valves. I’ve not personally done it, but I do know of engines with 55/7.6 heads and bores smaller than 4-9/16 that run real well

I’d run a 55 Series or newer. With the right head work it will work with the smaller bore.
It’s going to take more work, but the 6.8 probably has a preferred bore/stroke ratio for that CID.

I think it has cycled through several classes starting with the multi charger development in SS. Then probably multi engine development in mod followed by the advancement of alky SS. Pro stock had a fairly long period of advancement, and most recently a couple of the DSS have found a big step forward.

In an ideal world you are correct. The reality is that we are a show, entertainment for our paying customers. These combo classes are usually the result of trying to increase the number and variety of vehicles in the class. Either because one design is perceived to have an advantage, or to brng in vehicles from another nearby organization.

I think it would work if you are ready and able to do your own work and make parts. Probably not a lot of custom parts already designed. I talked to a guy in the Ky area that ran Superstock with a 2840 in the 90s, so I’d imagine it’s strong enough.
For a 3000 RPM class I think you are going to want to stroke a 329 with a 414 crank and a custom smaller piston rather than drop in a 359. The 4

Bore spacing for the 404 and 466 block are the same so bore potential are the same. Might be a little tough fitting as much stroke as the the 7.6 with a crank driven oil pump but the 404 and early 466 are basically the same casting.

I don’t think you have the correct stroke for an 8.1, I’m pretty sure it’s 5.0 too.
Agree that 414/6.8 doesn’t have enough bore spacing for 4.75.
