Lewis made a comment on the other board about a depression killing pulling. Unfortunately I think he is right.
A financial trainwreck has been put in motion over the last 20 or more years and accelerated to warp speed by the Federal Governments response to this Covid 'crisis'. Consider these points:

Dick, I don't want to put words in Lewis's mouth, but I suspect he may be talking about the financial trainwreck that has been put in motion over the last 20 or more years and accelerated to warp speed by the Federal Governments response to this Covid 'crisis'. This is probably a topic for the other forum so I'll put my thoughts on it there.

What Motorsport has ever has uniform rules across the country across different organizations? Roundly round certainly doesn’t. When NHRA and the other group were going head to head in the 90’s they didn’t in the Pro Stock class.

See Fig, you are kind of doing the same thing as the rule makers when you elude. Even your term ‘same plane’ is vague. The factory JD has the crank and pinion on the same vertical plane, but different horizontal planes. Which is what I presume you are eluding to. If some are dropping the engine on a JD so that the crank is inline with the pinion shaft like the factory IH & Ford as you seem to

The original topic was components in various classes. I know this ship has sailed due to another poorly written / loosely interpreted rule, but to me factory housings maintain the factory shaft locations and contain the oil. Once the Profab & Atlasmax self contained gearboxes started going into housings with no top and in some cases cut so that only the sides are left, why not allow components?

Are you saying 1.5” between the fingers and the throw out bearing face? A Crowerglide does not need that much clearance.

I call BS on changing the rules being progress. Changing the rules is the lazy way to make more HP. Progress is working for it with a new cam or piston design.

Thanks. Are those gapless or standard and if gapless is that on the top or 2nd ring? They offer it both ways.

What kind of rings are everyone running in turbo alky engines? I’ve burnt a few pistons over the years with std type rings and it seems the ring gaps are lined up when they go. They are always torched in that one spot and the rest of the piston looks like new. I’m thinking of trying zero gap rings to stop this, but some people don’t seem too keen on them.
Thanks

Sascha, are there as many pulls in an area over there as here? For every town that has a pull like you describe, how many other towns within a 30 minute drive have a pull too and are those pulls similar or smaller?

Yes, you can get half gears for the quad too. The quad is basically the same trans as the synchro with the 2 spd added in front of it.

Even if it isn’t mandatory, if it allows for more weight on the nose it becomes necessary in order to be competitive. A combo that is well sorted for the current rules could be obsolete if components are allowed. I’m sure that is a big concern of those who are happy with the current rules. I’ve see people note that cast chassis are competitive in PS, but that is a completely different animal w

Doug,
Do you know if the ag tires went thru a similar change in rubber compound and cord material as the puller tires? If so, is there a date for the change in them too?

I think it depends upon you (green boy), your skills and resources. The 414 does not have a ready supply of performance parts you can order or pick up used. However, the head design of the 414 may work better if you want to go with a 5” stroke. If you want to be different and are able and willing, go for the 414. If you are not in a position to be a trailblazer go with the SB as bonestock des

Since most turbos work with similar pressures on both sides (5 or 10 psi difference of 70 or more isn’t much) it’s kind of like the engine is waaaay below sea level. Remember how an engines lose power at altitude? Putting a turbo on in some ways is just the opposite. Use that same thinking when considering the overlap period when both valves are open. It still scavenges the same as na, just hi
