Thanks! Hoping for another fun year.
If I find the time, I will post some recent runs.

Here is a link to youtube, which I haven't added to or updated in 4 years basically. There have been improvements since these were taken, and it's on 24.5 tires now, but it's pretty representative.

Yes, we are competitive with the diesel tractors in our class at this time. It is a small class (typically 4-5 pullers), and has 360 based IH diesel and Ford 401 diesel. At this time, anybody can win the class on any given night, and we are keeping it that way. I do run with another club that has a variation of LLSS rules. Similar ci limits, they have alcohol and diesel with no real turbo limits

I beg to differ on the gas won't run with diesel comment.......there are a couple of turbo gassers in our club that run on par with diesel. Mine is the archaic draw through system. Limited turbo and cubic inch for both, but great competition. Like everything, if you refine and tune your setup for long enough, you figure it out.

Been running this setup for 11 years.....have never had said issue with turbo seals. No special turbo required.

Turbo or NA?

All of the above statements are true.....and I've learned some of them the hard way. It is best to summarize in this manner - if you build from the back and move forward, utilizing the best available solutions and parts, you will have no issue with durability once you arrive at building the engine.

Hard to say. Light Pros would be a cool addition in my mind. I gotta say that with the ridiculous 11:00 a.m. start time they have for day sessions, it would allow way more than enough time to add classes......who really needs a 4 hour break between sessions?

Sounds like you are running a 466 block with the recesses between the sleeves. Call Riverside back and ask Phil why he didn't recommend the sleeve keys that sit between the sleeves to eliminate this issue. Seen it before.

While I mostly agree with your PS ci limits Dick, ensuring a limit that kept the JD 619 out wasn't going to stop a BBJD build.......the 531 is the same basic engine, just less ci. Most parts are interchangeable between the two.
I couldn't agree more on the dislike of the "any sheetmetal rule". How disappointing it is as a fan at National events to think someone has come up with a kil

Jake, you really said it! I was at BG and saw that pass as well. With how far the DSS class has come, let's see them run with the Open Supers and see where things shake down. I bet there would be some surprises! I would love to see it.

They sure did. First year or two were 466 NA, then went 359 (6059) turbo. There will be a plate there too.

Ed,
We had our SWOTPA rule meeting this past Sunday, and no change in our light class as yet, but an agreement was made that we are pushing towards LLSS. It can be "created" anytime we choose. It would be good to see a set of common rules and try and shoot for that.

If you get the chance, take a peak under the open hood of a few Pro Stocks, you might be surprised who's running Wimers.
I'm sure they all have good and bad points.

Agree 100% with the statement "It wasn't broke, don't try and fix it".
It was good to do something special and different for the 50th, but ya coulda just left things alone and went forward with the same old format for the next year. Sunday pulling was just fine.
It'll be an absolute zoo trying to leave on Sunday morning next year (good luck waiting to dump the trailer!!), bu

I wish they'd go to BG, and bring Scott Holtgrew with them. All awesome running tractors.

Casting number is likely the best, not remembering off hand if it is inside the valve cover area, or just on the top outside that area.
Going to BG so may be slow to respond on here.

Which engine is that head off of, Matt? 341 or 362?

As discussed, the bolt pattern is the same, and the head gasket will seal around the cylinders and water jacket holes. I can't say with 100% confidence the oil gallery to the head is well aligned when trying this, it's been a while since I looked at them, you'd want to check that for sure. The other problem with putting the "narrow" head on the "wide" block is there is an area on t

There really isn't a true 404 gas engine, at least not that I have ever found yet (from the factory). Some will argue that the 7700 combine came with one, I have yet to see a live one. My undestanding has been that the 7700 came with the 362 as the gas engine, but did have the larger throat zenith carb.
The 341 was the early 4020 gas engine, with the 362 being the later version, 1/4" on t

It's nice to see some new names on the pre-commit, will be fun to see how they do.
I agree with the deep pockets statement. How exciting it will be (yawn) to see a third tractor from the same stable...........but maybe that team will surprise us with a different colored entry? That would make it a little more interesting, lol!!

S'no Farmer, I think you have a very valid point on the psi to ground/tire size relation. Not may people will take that into account. Wider isn't always better.

That's exactly what I saw on the IH as well, flexed frame and broke the bell housing. It was a very harsh landing for the front end that started it all.

Was there and saw the red tractor. Sure looked to me like the bellhousing let go on a hard front end landing (queue the air bag discussion!), everything went south from there. Full clutch assembly was on the engine when I went to see it in the pits.
I must say it was a great demonstration of safety equipment at work over the weekend!
