I recommend this event and all of the TVPPA events through the year, nice folks pulling in the midst of the prettiest scenery in the south. The fall show is the 25th edition featuring antiques through some enhanced classes and will be a pulling purist's delight. Come visit if you can!by Bryan Lively - Forum
Video From Ardmore MSPA and other stuff - 12 years ago
Interesting day here... Started the morning working on video (located here) from the MSPA event in Ardmore, Tennessee, when a wonderful humanitarian in Spain decided to take over The HOOK website. So...After fighting with issues with WordPress (at this point you couldn't pay me to use it) I made a new, plain, simple homepage, like the one I'd been using without problem. Re: A view of the aftermath - 12 years ago
I've seen two clutches come apart in the past year, both were contained with blankets and tie bars, both on starting line. Neither was red or green. I was sitting on the finish line when Up N Atom came apart in 94, the effectiveness of the blanket and tie bars prevented me from understanding how vital their purpose was--I was still wet behind the ears on such things. Photos at the link below. Track was not very good last night but the crew did a bang up job of making it a lot better for tonight. It was a UK and pulling fan's dream, they played ball game on big screens before and during the early stages of the pull. Opportunity here for a tremendous event, did a good job for first time out in this facility, wish them the best in growing this pull; fuby Bryan Lively - Forum

Photos found at this link... For the first time to combine an NATPA event with a NBPI/PPL event, it sure didn't look like it--looked like they had been combining these programs together for years. Everything went off well--a few hiccups that happen everywhere--but I don't think you could ask for a better deal. Antiques did 476 hooks in 480 minutes with 3 sleds. Re: Lincoln NE pull - 12 years ago
Guys...Its gonna be a decent sized track. I do know that they're turning the track around from the normal orientation that they pull with the NATPA to accomodate for the smoke tube. 240, 250, 275, 300? My guess is towards 250-275 figuring for sled/runoff/sand/barriers. Any way you look at it, it should be a good weekend to go pulling. I'll be there noon friday!by Bryan Lively - Forum
Re: Latest toys to roll out of the Stuck Shop - 12 years ago
As a former farm toy collector I really enjoyed talking with Justin about his work and his projects. It boils down to that theres a limited group of folks who have the attention to detail and patience to create these works of art and we're lucky that they focus on pulling tractors!by Bryan Lively - Forum
Time for change... - 12 years ago
Quite frankly, Jake and I agree a lot on many subjects, but I think Jake you need to expand this deal a bit further. While it has already been mentioned, a Friday afternoon session is past due! The Friday afternoon session has far more positive aspects than negative ones. The Positives, as I envision them: 1) Offer a FFA chapter discount program to the thousands of FFA members already in aby Bryan Lively - Forum
Re: NFMS prostock class is perfect - 12 years ago
I think this discussion is all about perspective. Is a class that is dominated by two colors, that has lost competitors at the national level and disentigrated at the state level except for a couple-three states broken, or is it simply by definition survival of the fittest, an evolution of a class? I like the class, I do. However from my standpoint you have to look at the class from the eyeby Bryan Lively - Forum
Busy weekend coming up... - 12 years ago
Next weekend we've got a significant amount of pulling going on with antiques/classics, with potentially 1500+ hooks between the three pulls. The NATPA event in Tallmadge Ohio kicks the weekend off on Friday evening, with the Third Annual Eaton Antique Pull in Eaton, OH and the SE Missouri Antique Super Pull going on in Fruitland/Jackson, Missouri both starting on Saturday. Re: NFMS Opinion Article Part 3 is posted. - 12 years ago
Jake- The idea of smaller classes seems like a decent idea, you should be seeing the best of the best if that's the case. I think however that it makes the selection process that much more a grab-bag when it comes to at-large selections, even with your assertion of who should be in the show automatically. Also, the committee will be catching even more grief with a smaller pool to createby Bryan Lively - Forum
Re: any pulls in florida - 12 years ago
Depends on what you're looking for. Think there may still be a pull in March, at Inverness if I remember right. The circuit down there runs pretty hard weekly from the second weekend of January to the last weekend of February, then backs off to monthly pulls until July/August.by Bryan Lively - Forum
Re: NFMS Opinion Article Part 2: Show Announcers - 12 years ago
Jake you've hit it on the head for the most part. Our two biggest pulls of their kind BG and Louisville have vastly different approaches to announcing. Louisville needs at least one, maybe two more announcers, rotating in and out of service through the evening in the way BG has done. Believe me that comment is not a knock at Butch or Dave, it's a pretty hard job. I see their job as a loby Bryan Lively - Forum

@ burning eyes: smoke tube multiplied by alcohol fumes equals GREAT BIG BOOM. That raw fuel mixed with air in the tube would be a bad deal if a spark made its way in. I do agree about the fume level at times. I was on the second level shooting photos at one point and had to get out of there; first time Ive had to do it without being on the upper level. Re: attendance at NFMS - 12 years ago
According to an email I just received show attendance was up to 305 thousand this year, and that ticket sales (not always an indicator of butts in seats)....was the second highest in the last four years...ticket revenue was up also... The fair board is on that fine line at the moment with the revenue and attendance balance...which is probably the most obvious thing I've written. I hope tby Bryan Lively - Forum

Went to a pull recently, caught the first round of (what I thought) was every tractor in the joint. I had stepped off track when nature called, came back. Gentleman called wanted to know where he was in my photo set. He hooked once (could have hooked up to 4 times). I had the tractor before him and started back a couple tractors after him.
