NFMS Photos - 12 years ago
Photos here. Congrats to all the winners and finalists. Still digesting thoughts about the show, can say I had a great time visiting with everyone that is for sure. Louisville is the one place where I see a whole bunch of folks from the broad spectrum that is covered in The HOOK under one roof. Several other distilleries close by, Notably Wild Turkey in Lawrenceburg and Makers Mark in Loretto. Check their websites for visiting hours. If you're adventurous you could drive to Bowling Green to the Corvette Museum, the plant is on shutdown at the moment for re-tooling. Right on 65, cannot miss it.by Bryan Lively - Forum
Re: Mufreesboro pictures... - 12 years ago
What needs to be clairified here is that a pull is an open and public event and unless specified by the promoter whatever a photographer shoots belongs to the photographer and to no one else. Look at it like this: there are a number of iconic sports photos and photos from history that millions have seen. I would venture to say most of all of them, the person or persons in the shot did not recby Bryan Lively - Forum

Chris as usual your stuff is top notch, and Luke is following in his dad's footsteps! I knew...I knew...I KNEW when I left the track for a few minutes there was a shot to be had and I didn't get it! Glad you were there to capture it!by Bryan Lively - Forum
Re: Rising Tractor Classes - 12 years ago
A lot to consider here, most of all, budget. If you have aspirations for Louisville, LPS 4.1 or SF are the safer bets in the long term. If you simply love to hook, LLSS or SF are your best bets, with probably 70 or more LLSS hooks in 2012 within the state, plus the MSPA and other regional Orgs where you can campaign SF are very attractive. The 540 Light Pro option is also there, depends whereby Bryan Lively - Forum

Thanks Jake, and everyone else who has looked at the shots. I can't say enough good about the SMP staff, Brian Neal and the Patriot Motorsports crew, the pullers who participated. They provided a very good show to some new folks and some people who hadn't been in a while; I hope they'll come back and bring more with them. Miles Beyond 300 latest blog post - 12 years ago
Miles again in his latest installment analyzes a "sister" sport to pulling, monster trucks. I have to say that I am not the biggest monster truck fan, I did enjoy them as a kid until they were about the only thing in "Pulling Power." However, his recollections and history are a lot like mine--I was likely in Freedom Hall with him to see them at some point--and that drew me in further to the comby Bryan Lively - Forum

Photos edited down, some Saturday night stuff added. Congrats to each and every winner and to the SMP crew. I thought they did a great job overall. The stands have never been full like that before. Diesel trucks did slow things down, BUT they're aware and made an improvement from friday to saturday especially on the finish line. I'm giving the show a strong A overall. I cby Bryan Lively - Forum

@ thanks but no thanks- I loaded my photos in full, thinking that folks might like to see them even though I haven't had time to edit them at all. I am trying to make it a point to be more immediate in my coverage of events with my new website and the capability at the Miller Coliseum to load the photos on the spot. You're correct Miles that is a tough session of PS. But in reality they're all tough and a new name or names emerge to get into the finals on Saturday evening. Looking forward to the show and your commentary on it!by Bryan Lively - Forum

Green With Envy LPS 4.1 on a test run. Track was wet but will be in great shape by tomorrow--that "horse dirt" as I call it is hard to deal with, but the SMP group does a good job year after year making it the best it can be. Re: South Central WI has New LLSS Class for 2012 - 12 years ago
How much difference in power is the single 470 diesel and the 370 alky vs. the 360 with twins? As much as I have seen the class in KTPA/ORV/BOB go down the track this year I believe balance, track reading, driver skill and yes---sometimes hook number---determine victor. Horsepower and torque are of course very important but getting what you have to the ground is far more important. I'by Bryan Lively - Forum

Another round of photos from Inverness, Florida are available here . I really hope to see those that can make an effort to support the pulling community down there in Florida. Re: Components are SAFER!!!!!!! - 12 years ago
Well, there is one out there. Also, I'm being public and vocal here about a tractor that I will watch pass me by at several events in 2012 without me giving a second thought to what happened at Springfield, TN. "tech," and others, I am confused about your problem with the tractor is. Cast tractors break and components can break too. "NO CAST IRON AG-TYPE TRANSMISSION OR REAR ENDby Bryan Lively - Forum

Gee whiz. A man steps away from the page for two days (I knew I'd regret leaving the laptop at home) and all hell breaks loose. Dear Jake: brother, friend: you're right, and you're wrong. You wonder when a photo becomes handy. See exhibit A. Make your own judgements. FYI: The part in question was replaced with a heavier unit, according to my sources. Guess the part - 12 years ago
Ok pulling fans, put on your thinking caps: part pictured below came off a prominent tractor in the sport of pulling, was attached to said tractor in the late seventies/early eighties. Note that the pulley is every bit 8-10 inches across. Take a shot, I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it. Name the tractor, owner and the configuration. Re: Regarding the chassis... - 12 years ago
Good to see some thought being put into this thread. I give credit to Dick for 90% of what is said, I just stuck my nose in a couple places. A couple points: Point one: 2000hp is no "myth." Now that said, I dont know as though this tractor had that much at the flywheel when it pulled since it had been on the dyno for a significant amount of time. Here's a suggested spot to inspire some to share their old stories: www.competitionplus.com Read the "War Stories." Clearly, Pat Musi and Roy Hill were just about insane back in the day. Springfield NATPA Pull - 12 years ago
For you antique pullers out there, wanted to post that the NATPA is holding a pull in Springfield, MO at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds next weekend on the 21st. I preface my thoughts with that I spent 90% my time at the table during the event, and thanks to Dick and Adam Draudt for their help on the track and Wayne Girbach for his help with the Hook table. I also want to thank everyone for stopping by and visiting, got to shake hands with some guys who were rock stars to me when filled out my first Puller subscription form back in 1987, so a great weekeby Bryan Lively - Forum
Re: NEBRASKA BUSH PULLERS 2012 INDOOR PULL - 12 years ago
I'm making a 12 hour drive myself to this show, good chance to see a wide variety of iron in my opinion. It is a really nice facility, the floor space is a little bigger than Harrisburg with a lot of room for pits/vendors behind the seating. Lots of potential in this event and I hope that pullers and fans support it.by Bryan Lively - Forum
Re: don't forget just sayin - 12 years ago
I'll be the first to admit I am highly biased towards this class, Ive argued it here and everywhere I go.....numbers/color/highly competitive/unique machines/still a "tractor"/make passes reliably....the list can go on. However, only way they can wedge this class in at Louisville is a Friday afternoon session. LLSS, Limited Pro, and Light Pro in that session would work well. Heck, make itby Bryan Lively - Forum
