Re: Tunica Mississippi Photos, and a question - 12 years ago
Several diesels there, just some good ventilation...Also several people there through the week just watching, I wasn't there to shoot the folks watching from the 100ft mark on, I was there to shoot the tractors. When you have 430 plus tractors registered and 650 hotel rooms rented associated with the event, there will be a crowd.by Bryan Lively - Forum
Tunica Mississippi Photos, and a question - 12 years ago
Finally got some photos up from the event, at the link below. A little background for my question...been to a LOT of pulls this year, and several stand out. I bring this up because Tunica is such a unique event, 1100 hooks over three days, great hospitality from the host group the Mean Green Pulling Team, the time available in the evenings and during the pulls to visit with folks from 15 plusby Bryan Lively - Forum

Farm Show Selection Process - 12 years ago
After some phone calls and some enlightenment that I hoped would come from a recent post I made I've come to the opinion that there needs to be more transparency when it comes to getting into the NFMS. Before I go any further I guess it should be noted that the committee has every right to do whatever they wish. They could make it an all red or all green show; they could run garden tractoby Bryan Lively - Forum
Re: What makes a good tractor pull? - 12 years ago
Fastest and best run event I went to this year was an antique pull in Pryor, Oklahoma with the Green Country Antique Club. It had all the elements of a well run event: 1) Started on time 2) Pullers were backing into the sled just as it had stopped on the starting line 3) Track crew volunteers exchanged duties regularly, kept people fresh at their position; 4) I checked my photo data, they weby Bryan Lively - Forum
Re: Mid Atlantic Antique tractor Super pull Harrisburg Pa. sat Nov. 19 - 12 years ago
Uncle Dick Morgan and I will be there this weekend, very good track, great weather for November is expected. This is probably one of the nicest buildings you'll see in sport of pulling, its in my top 3. Come on out, see you there!by Bryan Lively - Forum
Re: So..Lets get this right... - 12 years ago
Quite honestly for all this weeping wailing and gnashing of teeth Im seeing here, the NFMS MUST mean something more than what some of you are saying. Otherwise this thread wouldn't have the legs it's had. At the center of all this is that the committtee will be villains when picking Super Farm tractors for their show. Did some very good tractors not get in? Yup. Is it unfortunate? Yby Bryan Lively - Forum
Re: Top Cut Tires - 12 years ago
A fresh sharp set of top cuts on a formerly D2 tractor will need more nose weight, and that will vary from tractor to tractor. Its going to be trial and error; I suggest that any NATPA pull you go to take advantage of any test and tune time they have, you can cure a lot of ills quickly. D2-T is going to be a very good addition to the NATPA, it has already shown some early welcome popularityby Bryan Lively - Forum
Re: Nebraska Bush Pullers - 12 years ago
If its the same building I was in this past march for the NATPA pull it is more than adequate for an indoor pull of any sort. Lots of good parking, pretty nice facility. Going to try to make it out again in 2012.by Bryan Lively - Forum
Re: class question - 12 years ago
run a 2.6 or 2.8, even a 3.0 charger. How much do you want or not want to spend? Like I said because of the diesel truck influence that looms over the cummins engine the R&D has been spent, we know how far to push these motors without tearing them down all the time. Any number of scenarios exist for color/metal. I like the idea of the metal matching the engine exactly, but a cummins under tby Bryan Lively - Forum
Re: class question - 12 years ago
360 CID...water allowed...match metal to engine and then metal to rear. voila, a class with color and a ton of cummins 12V tractors where the r and d money has already been spent by the truck guys. Change the oil and check the filters, fill it up with fuel and water and pull; repeat steps 1-3 all summer.by Bryan Lively - Forum

Lot of folks still in the field, corn is finished and beans are still being cut here in South Central KY. Had a good weekend, visited with folks in Scottsville and Calhoun, KY, photos below. Headed indoors with antiques this weekend, first hook of the NATPA season. Will be an interesting pull with the Isenhart Memorial class; Tom Isenhart's tribute class to his wife Tracey was by far the most memorable and truly emotional classes of pulling Ive personally witnessed. Re: Farmall m in 4500?? - 12 years ago
Having a '39 M would help too. Those first year M's were lighter than those that followed. As unknown said, lots of aluminum--wheels, transmission top, several places to reduce weight. I have heard 3750# bare is possible; A '39 with a 200lb driver finished second in the 4250 King of the Hill in Tunica last year...by Bryan Lively - Forum
Re: Bob 10000 hotfarm question? - 12 years ago
A lot of this is growing pains for this class; every class has had them. At least on here we've got a way to get everything flushed out for the world to see, the good the bad and the indifferent. In building a class you cant worry about the good and bad, its when the indifferent make up the majority and stuff goes haywire. Re: Reactive "fear-based" thinking will have its way... again - 12 years ago
Wayne you hit all the high spots for sure. Here's my thought and its already been said before: If it aint broke, dont fix it. The class has been able to run in basically one region (less travel) with a pretty good rule set (friendly for either building one or moving a PS down a notch) and with very good action (good wheel speed, wheels up, and rpm's---crowds love motion and noise).by Bryan Lively - Forum
Re: 10,000 hot farm at leitchifield ky very successful - 12 years ago
A little cooperation in this state regarding a few classes like Hot Farm (first class at one location, last at another) will go a long way...wink wink....Hot Farm is booming here, and lots of room to grow and scheduling it without some cooperation could thin class numbers without reason. Just an opinion....by Bryan Lively - Forum

Re: Old Pics More to Come soon! - 12 years ago
The one thing that is getting ignored here is the changing dynamic in cable television. In the heyday of tractor pulling programming on cable television, it was clearly an anything-goes mentality and you could see anything on ESPN because the cost to air was not nearly what it is today. Remember Austrailian Rules Football and how it would run all the time? Today, when contracts to regularly aiby Bryan Lively - Forum
Re: Track building a lost art? - 12 years ago
A number of issues are at work here I suspect in building a track. First and foremost, we're seeing a reduction in organic matter in tracks because of the water we're using. Most tracks are watered with municipal water---containing chlorine---and the chlorine acts against the parent organic matter, chemically changing the structure of the soil dramatically even though organic matter cby Bryan Lively - Forum

Re: speed limits? - 12 years ago
speed is the great equalizer; for antiques between 3.5 and 5 is a good range. 8 and above is a better playing ground for the post-'59 crowd and for the full-tilt '59 and older tractors. In reality you're going to find speed limits will include, not exclude. Pulls like Tunica with 1200 hooks over 3 days of speed limit pulling verify that, not to mention the 600 plus hooks that thby Bryan Lively - Forum
