Yeah, I'm still reading this mess...pray for me...I'm trying to wrap my mind around Jake's (or mine for that matter) lack of seat time matters in forming an educated opinion about any particular issue in the sport, especially this one, since it has absolutely nothing to do with driving skill. Re: South Georgia Pull? - 13 years ago
I too think it is unfortunate that there will not be an event in South Georgia this year. I spent a weekend in Ocala Florida and was amazed at the crowd response to pulling regardless of the vehicle on the track. The rub on all this is the travel cost to that area (Im 11 plus hours from there myself) but I really see it as a good situation for the promoters locally thinking about adding a pullby Bryan Lively - Forum

Like some folks, I'm a fan of hash, but I'm not a fan of re-hash. Time to move on. My plan is to attempt to stop opening up links related to this dead horse that been beat on, buried, dug up, and taking another unnecessary whipping five weeks after the fact. The carcass is starting smell, put it back in the ground!by Bryan Lively - Forum
Re: I Know Of 3 Deaths Here In The Midwest - 13 years ago
KY4430 I'd like to know what events you attended. I attended nearly every MidSouth event the last 2 years and I cannot think of one where anyone doing video or taking a picture were not at a minimum an adequate distance (20ft or more) from the track or behind a barrier, and the distance that most crew members are off the track is pretty typical of any track I've been on personally regaby Bryan Lively - Forum

Friends of Crane Collier Pull - 13 years ago
In a few weeks there will be an event honoring one of our own in the Mid-South, The Friends of Crane Collier Antique Tractor Pull. Crane has been a longtime puller and pulling fan and I met him first years ago when he and his wife Carol campaigned a pair of potent 2 cylinder Deeres. More recently Crane had worked as a tech official in the MSPA. Crane's health has been in decline and he haby Bryan Lively - Forum

Re: making pullin more interesting - 13 years ago
You would be surprised how quick you can turn a sled around and go if the track has been prepared and kept up well. Trick is of course to have enough track to do it on and barriers up to keep people off both ends to make it possible.by Bryan Lively - Forum
Re: making pullin more interesting - 13 years ago
Want to make things more interesting? Some folks in Corunna Michigan did that this past fall at a NATPA event. Sponsored by Tom Isenhart in memory of his wife Tracey, the event had a three heat preliminary (49 tractors entered) with the top 4 tractors from each heat coming back for the finals. Twelve tractors and men came back for the finals the following evening, and they spun the sled aroundby Bryan Lively - Forum
Cheating, deception and redemption - 13 years ago
It is pretty interesting to me how the sport of pulling mirrors life in some ways. For instance, the growth of grassroots pulling, from a 3mph M to a 4430 Hot Farm mirrors the groundswell of growth in the tea party political movement. I see lots of new iron coming out this year in those classes as much as I've traveled in the past 12 months. Another thing I see is how professional sportby Bryan Lively - Forum
Re: Third announcer wanted - 13 years ago
Well said Dick. Its by no accident that Butch has been doing this for over 30 years at the farm show. Miles would be an excellent choice for that third party at the microphone. The farm show is for certain an endurance test for a lot of folks and I think announcing the event is by far one of the toughest jobs physically and mentally. Their voices are what pays the bills, and I admire the facby Bryan Lively - Forum
Re: NFMS- what needs to be changed or leave it alone - 13 years ago
Dan you offer some great thoughts here. What I noticed in terms of the crowd was a lack of FFA chapters in attendance. As a former Ag Teacher and FFA Advisor, I can understand that the cost to attend has taken an uptick in recent years. There was a chapter from Tennessee that Im pretty sure has been there for the past 30 plus years and I didnt hear them recognized. Maybe its time for a discouby Bryan Lively - Forum
Re: New OPINION Article - Levels of cheating - 13 years ago
Jake you've pretty much nailed the issue. If a rule is strictly defined and it is broken, the proper punishment should be applied and would seem it has been done on this occasion at the Farm Show. At this point what's done is done--but where do we go from here? The one thing that I'm not seeing in many discussions is a solution to this problem in particular. Re: Lightest a 560 can get to - 13 years ago
Depends on the class. Is it a Light Limited or is it for antique pulling? fat tires and turbos and cages add up. Ask the guys over on the tractor pulling board on ytmag.com, theres several folks there very knowledgeable and can give you a ballpark figure if youre going the antique route.by Bryan Lively - Forum

Two very important and very good names to add to the list: Gary Baker and Paul Marlatt.
