I don't know about the website, which needs fixed! but 95% sure, we are running with a different sled this year! so there shouldn't be any show up 2 tractors pull and everyone else has to go home because the sled broke.

i had always dreamed of having a pulling tractor. My dad and I started working on one about 4 years ago, a 1466 and 706 put together. just took our time asking millions of questions and trying different things. last year it finally left the shop and onto the track it went. had some bumps along the way, for instance blowing the head gasket(because we didn't fire ring it..now we know! lol). go

id say try tires, that would be about the cheapest/easiest. i put 3588 gears in my 3000 rpm tractor and have 3 1/2 and road gear now. 12% reduction on the torque with the front gear. last year had a 13/49 ring pinion stock 1466 trans. and with 20.8 38's it would roll about 32 in road gear. and 27 in 3rd. that is just what i have found..there are probably better ways the other guys know of.

bigger tires, mesh, ring pinion....what class you running? i've heard guys doing the overdrive thing...but you lose power to the ground when your not direct drive....

high clear 706's had the 16/49. otherwise i believe they had a 13/49. not sure on the 826 count. i would assume it would be either 13/49 or 13/51.

what class are you running? 468 has roller cam and lifters. and if you wanted you can put the flat tappet lifters in that block. should have a good head on it for porting and polishing.

build it, bring it, pull it! it'd be fun to have a different tractor to compete against. don't worry about cubic inch, they don't check it, 466 is just a number for some guys. HAHA!

what weight you shooting for? with a 706 rearend, 1466 transmission, custom front end, aluminum fenders, and 18.4 38 tires on dual rims i weigh 7210 lbs with every unnecessary piece out except for rockshaft cover. not sure what the weight difference is but it is little lighter. also make sure you have a 4 spider differential not a 2 spider. i learned the hard way on that. hope this helps ya.

i am putting together a 3000 rpm IH 466. motor had roller cam in excellent condition. i would hate to throw it away if i can use it in this application. and if it would be better than a flat tappet. any advice will be greatly appreciated.
