I priced new enclosed goosenecks 2 seasons ago. The three quotes I received back were all more than 25k without any living quarters. All the extra bracing and height added up in a hurry. Very few places will even attempt to build a ramp door that will support a 8500lbs tractor. I have half than in my 48' drop van and couldn't be happier.

What type of insurance are you shopping for? I have mine covered for storage and while being transported. But if I scatter parts all over the track, I'm responsible for putting those in my own bucket.

Sorry I didn't read that correctly I thought it said 1850 not 1650. Call Brad at Maibach Tractor, he will point you in all the right directions.

Stock trans will handle that, just need to change your 2/5 set to give you another option.

In 2013 I built a tractor to run with Michindoh that doesn't match. I'm still running that tractor currently. I wanted to be one of those 10 tractors you need. There are plenty more tractors in the area that won't meet these rules because of the reasons I pointed out, 30ci to large. 4" intake vs your 3 3/4. Hot farm guys are always willing to travel when given the opportunity. I

I don't have access to PPL rules more current than 15'. But Darke County and Michindoh both use 540ci for a limit, not 510. Michindoh and IPL both don't require engine and sheet metal to match with approval. And rule 7a of the 2015 PPL rules is going to eliminate several of the good running red tractors in the state. So based on what I see with all of this it should a great class o

I'm curious on which direction the 10 tractors will come from. I would have thought the rules would have overlapped the other three hot farm classes in the area more than they do.

These type of things happen often in what we do, HSTPA is a successful organization that has a decent following. But I do wish they would have followed closer to the rules of the other hot farm tractor rules in the Hoosier State to help draw the magic number of 10 they are looking for.

Buy lines from a different shop. I have been down this road in the past. Believe it or not like most things there are a difference in quality. But like said above, to make sure they are supported well.

I have always liked the idea of classic super at 7700. The smaller motor will usually do better at a lighter weight. I have had every intention of running my tractor in LLSS at 6500 if an association in my area ever picks it up.

We run 8500 pound, 3x3.5 turbo, water injection, unlimited rpm, 510 ci max, on 18.4-38 cut tires. We are currently leading the points. We are not the best running tractor in the class but we are a top 3 tractor every night out. We do give up torque numbers for sure to a bigger motor, but can often overcome that with a little extra rpm and wheel speed. I've had my fair share of haters that ha

I'm running a 5.9 in an oliver with a 3x3.5 charger and have no problem staying on it and spinning out on the big end. It's all about giving the motor what it needs, proper exhaust housing, camshaft, timing, fuel. Then you get to your chassis setup, weight distribution, hitch height, air pressure and tire choice. Dial one in, they can be a very successful setup.

I'm running a 1955 4/6 set in my 2/5 spot. And the 1850 had the option of two 4/6 choices and I'm running the faster of the two in my 4/6 location. You also can look into a 4/6 gear set for a 2255, I've been told that was a faster set to make up for the lower rpm of the v-8 cat.

I agree with the above statement on race car trailers not being heavy enough. I just priced a trailer through millennium a few weeks ago. I was over 30k for a 36' by time we were done making it strong enough and tall enough to handle a 8500 pound tractor. Millennium refused to put a ramp door on a trailer that had anything heavier that 7000 going in it. Would only build with cargo doors and

Just keep in mind horsepower, speed, and tire size all play into keeping the rear end happy. I have seen several two spider setups take big power. We have a 5.9 hooked to a 1850 rear making 4 digit power. When I bend the stick it's good piece of mind to know it's a 4 spider setup.

I would use a larger rear end out of a 1850. I'm not saying the 1650 won't work, but you won't have any issues keeping the tractor under 10000 and it's a 4 spider pressure lubed rear end. A much better option in my opinion.

Brad has a 5.9 in his 1655 which would be a very similar frame to a 2-70. Will take a little grinder work but it will fit. We have our 1850 down to less than 7500 with a factory cast grill and cast frame still intact. We are making 4 digit power with the 5.9 and no rear end issues so far. Brad is an excellent recourse for a project like this and is always willing to help.

I have not but am strongly considering heading this direction with a small cubed hot farm I am currently running but struggle to do so if 4 hours is a close hook for us. I would say IPL would be the best option for an organization to add LLSS with their current strong following. But I have no idea if they would.
