Re: chassis weight? - 15 years ago
Usually a tube chassis is build lighter than a sheet metal chassis (if my dictionaty translates it correctly, "wedge" gives no reference whether it's tubes or sheet metal). To build light, you also have to focus on other things (that bit of metal forming the chassis is just a little part of the game). A lot of weight saving is populary wasted in the rearend (I still find it pretty amusingby Sascha - Forum
Re: Components - 15 years ago
That brings something to my mind: You run in a world of 1930s flatheads... They put on a nice show and have a very special appeal ( I ran a Kohler single cylinder Super Stock about 10 years ago, too) - but put to a performance test against OHC and OHV engines... ouchby Sascha - Forum
Re: decubeing - 15 years ago
problem with decubing is, you get short stroke (high rev), big bore and big flow engines.... that would mess things up rather badly.by Sascha - Forum
Re: 505-510 Light Pro Stock - 15 years ago
A V6 is about as crappy of an engine as it will get. Only good thing about them is, they are cheap to build and do better low end tourque than an inline 6...by Sascha - Forum
Re: Components - 15 years ago
Just something to throw in: So far there is no component Pro Stock in the class here. There will be a few this season and maybe that will turn things around, because they will have more front end weight. Anyhow - building a component chassis for a tractor with less than 4000 hp at 7700 lbs is NOT costly. The sheet metal wedge rails I think are less than a 1000 $ ( cost like 300 € each to makby Sascha - Forum
Re: Datalogger - 15 years ago
check your plugs... with hilborn injection set right you can better spend the money into the engine than in the datalogger. The first ones we had just told us reading plugs is accurate enough to make them things run. Now with the computer operating the amount of fuel it's a different ballgame though - and offers more possibilitis. BTW.. have several ratehr new injections lying here for saleby Sascha - Forum

Hi! If I remember correctly, you have to / can run the data through exel and get graphs that way. guys here usually check for the max temperature on the screen when adjusting for a Pull Off and the likeby Sascha - Forum
4 channel version - 15 years ago
same as the one from elderly deere.. but 4 channels Just figured the K- Type sensors that come with it won't work. You need a different temperature range. Anyhow.. those are not expensive and every better electronic store has them. Also note you do NOT want the very flimpsy tips (break) and neither the really heavy tips (take too much time to heat up)by Sascha - Forum
Re: Datalogger - 15 years ago
looks like it comes from the same chinese assambly line as the one I've shown above. Just that it has less channels... Just beware they don't take many records per second. They'll get you a pretty good idea of what you are doing EGT wise - but don't expect them to do (measure) wonders. Still - they are money well spend if you don't plan on spending over a 1000 bucks.by Sascha - Forum
Re: 6000 llss and 7- 8000 limited pro class - 15 years ago
there is another thread on here with a link to the ETPC rulebook... if you can't find it, go to "tractorpulling.com" (skip that stupid, bandwidth eating intro and don't wonder about the screaming colors) - choose "rulebooks and forms" in the menu - and there is a link to the rules in PDFby Sascha - Forum

I have just added all the British competitors (to the already featured germans) of the 2009 Euro Cup season. So if you are interested in following this years EU season and want to have a little info about the teams (so you don't have to look all puzzled when looking at a results list), you might want to check it out. Re: what would be a good weight for the class - 15 years ago
At least you can buy 24.5 made for pulling (that don't tear up badly)... so I don't see a reason why not to use those. As far as it concerns the limits and their outcome here: Top machines have a 4.6 and up turbo, billet pumps and intercoolers and have to run the OEM head.by Sascha - Forum
Re: Datalogger (broken picture fixed) - 15 years ago
This is a random screen shot from the second run we did with that EFI system... You see the egts, orange line is fuel in lbs/h (divided by 1.3 gives HP) , red line is boost, purple is fuel pressure, blue is battery voltage (still running a 12V back then), ... Well the colors on top equal the color of the graph lines. That is just one third of the read outs. By switching "Display select" I cby Sascha - Forum
Re: Datalogger - link fixed - 15 years ago
this one: Comes with two K-Type sensors (you need to buy two more - they are like 30 bucks), can do 4 channels. It's like 260 US$ , has memory, will show the max EGT on display but also can be read out with a PC. It's not the fastest though - but great for the money, as it gives you an idea where you are at. Not compareable to a professional system though. I have yet toby Sascha - Forum
Re: Datalogger - 15 years ago
... There is systems that start for less than 400 bucks and will give you 4 EGTs - and there is stuff like we run that costs 4000 + and will even tell you how much fuel you inject in every individual cylinder and combined with the right sensor, lays out the internal cylinder pressure in a cycle in a nice graph....by Sascha - Forum
Re: what would be a good weight for the class - 15 years ago
Hi! 7700 lbs is fine with components (them Alky supers can run well balanced at 7700lbs here and 8000 lbs in the US with 30.5 tires - a diesel class with smaller tires wouldn't have a problem with that). With stock transmission and engine location, the older "rear wheel drive designed" tractors are at disatvantage compared to newer designs like the Valtras, who have the engine sitting MUCHby Sascha - Forum
Re: 505-510 Light Pro Stock - 15 years ago
How about OEM head? If you get the OHC with it, there is no extra costs... Sigma Pump - I was at a meeting where a german diesel shop showed all the various things he offers to pullers and they talked about 16mm and bigger elements that can be squeezed inside the P-Pump. I also do agree on that. I mean look at what's build these days, with the technology of turbocharging. A big deal of the advantage of the big cubes is the fact, people are allowed to put a different head on those engines. Tractors were built with big cubes to make horsepower to begin with. Them Lanz Bulldogs come to my mind with their huge 600 cui + single cylinders. What made them obsby Sascha - Forum

them Zetors were, of course, also from behind the iron curtain like Ursus, Belarus, Fortschritt .... But the czech always had the borders a little more open than the others and dealt with their european neighbours. So access to materials for them was better than for most other companies having to work under the communists. By now they are in the "real world" and the czech are catching up to theby Sascha - Forum

Who actually knows how much power he makes? We have thought we are in the 2700 hp range with our Allisons. With the EFI we had to learn we are just putting enough fuel in to barely make 3000 - and we know that damn supercharger alone takes more than 400 hp - not to speak about what it takes to turn the engine. So 2400 is probably a safe and realistic bet. Still that was enough power to severalby Sascha - Forum

I would wait and see how it does here. Sjors was not one of the very top guys here last season either.
