Re: 505-510 Light Pro Stock - 15 years ago
I would think this is less about "saving money" (because it isn't) but more about "how to get the sport more exciting for a wider fan base and more interesting for colors that are currently not in the position to win"... I mean - for how long do you want to base the sport on engines from the last century?by Sascha - Forum

Marcel - your super sport class is a blast, but aren't you talking a little different level and topic here??? The pull at Gordyville is packed with classes very similar to yours. Check that video link:by Sascha - Forum
Re: 505-510 Light Pro Stock - 15 years ago
I could imagine there would be some interest from the "off brand" teams that probably have an operation going that can handle a national competition - but currently wouldn't stand a chance because of the cubic inch issue. Teams like Hurricane Allis or Forresters come to my mind here... If it wasn't for the damn financial crises, I could also imagine, it would be possible to pick up soby Sascha - Forum
Re: 505-510 Light Pro Stock - 15 years ago
the folks here mostly all run intercoolers Anyhow.. I said this about adding a new class about 5 years ago already. There is no sense in killing an existing class that works wellby Sascha - Forum
Re: Turn Me Loose (PS) at NFMS - 15 years ago
I remember fully well, there was an issue with Clevilite / Mexico / John Deere bearings ... could have been the same issue. I am a bit out of touch with the diesel stuff over here, since I set out because of work for almost a complete season and all I have been in touch with lately is methanol, electronic injections, allison main bearings and pro chargers....by Sascha - Forum
Re: Turn Me Loose (PS) at NFMS - 15 years ago
I am not a Pro Stock man - but I have heard they (at least used to) have a great deal of main bearing problems. Rods out is kinda rare...by Sascha - Forum

Re: Turn Me Loose (PS) at NFMS - 15 years ago
Puhh.. I would not say we think it is "better". The reason for the 510 cui / 7700 lbs rule being placed is more influenced by the "different reality" here. When we got Pro Stocks as an official class about a decade ago, we had following scenario: The first Alky Burners started to show up and it was crystal clear, the diesels would not stand a chance against them for very much longer. But sinby Sascha - Forum

Re: Best Flowing Cylinder Head - 15 years ago
The best flowing OEM heads these days are outlawed anyways, as they have 4 valves... Reality has kinda passed the US rulebook. I would think the head of the current Fendt engine of the 926 and up Varios (MAN) would probably be one of the best around (considering the size of the engine). However, it comes with a pretty small engine below and is almost useless for pulling in big cube classes -by Sascha - Forum

Re: Final drive ratio and spinning axle - 15 years ago
BOTH tires need to turn. If only one turns, your diff is working and reducing the input shaft rpm by 50%. Best is: Jack up one tire, turn input shaft for as long as the tire made one revolution. Multiply the number of turns of your input shaft by 2 - and that's your final ratio. Like 10 turns on the input shaft make ONE wheel do one turn. Then 10 * 2= 20. 20to1 final ratioby Sascha - Forum

We request standard "street legal" ROP Them things did fall over in the pastby Sascha - Forum
Re: Final drive ratio and spinning axle - 15 years ago
Just don't forget your differential will make one wheel go twice as fast, if the other wheel can't turn... Remember back when a guy figured his single Allison would spin the tires at 96 mph after counting the turns of the pinion shaft after one rotation of the jacked up left rear wheel..by Sascha - Forum

Re: NOTHING BELOW HERE ABOUT THREAD OR - 15 years ago
The team I work in IS HEAVILY factory supported and there are others, too. Difference is, we are in Europe and this "product liabilty" stuff is by far not as much of a problem as in the US. So maybe that's the reason why you don't get much sponsorship and we finance more than a healthy part of the show with it.by Sascha - Forum
Re: Factory Support - 15 years ago
good point Factory support means they mostly give you parts - NOT MONEY. Sucks if you can't use them....by Sascha - Forum

Re: Go to this sight - 15 years ago
As said, I don't have any first hand info on this and can only tell, what he told me. All I do know from old results list is, he actually pulled with a 66 series IH, which is absolutely strange, as that model has never been sold in germany and is kinda "unknown" if it wasn't for some collectors and Tractor Pullers importing them things. IH over here in Europe (for 6 cylinders) meansby Sascha - Forum
Re: Go to this sight - 15 years ago
Now.. I was about to say something about this before, but wasn't quite sure about the story I was told being true. The engineer who actually came up with the CVT idea is coming from Holstein in northern germany and a lot of the hydraulic components were done by Sauer, which also are located there. Now - we have a tractor pull promoter and first hour puller, also from that area, who told meby Sascha - Forum
Re: JOHN DEEREEEEEY - 15 years ago
ZF, Fendt, Steyr and CLAAS hold the patents... nothing to do with "outsourcing" You can't build what you don't have the patents for. They've tried... didn't work out.by Sascha - Forum
Re: JOHN DEEREEEEEY - 15 years ago
When it comes to CVT, John Deere people better not mention it. CVT is nothing new and the first production tractors to use it were Fendt, Steyr (now part of CNH) and Claas in the Xerion. Then Deere all of a sudden needed it badly - started to copy - lost the following lawsuit badly and by now still doesn't have a CVT that's anywhere close in performacne to what the Fendt made ones aby Sascha - Forum

Re: And.......... - 15 years ago
So you are telling me, since they don't get more prize money than the TWD guys, they have stopped investing and kinda dissappear? Good to hear things are the same in NY than everywhere else. Of course you don't pull for the prize money only (you can either afford to run - or you better not even try), but it still helps the UPGRADES and over the year 200 $ more per pull can mean goodby Sascha - Forum

Re: Slightly raised? - 15 years ago
So - if every class is getting the same prize money I wonder whether you have a bunch of TWDs and few modifieds? A lot of Super Farms and few Pro Stocks / Super Stocks? That's what usually happens here when the majorety (with cheap tractors) votes for socialistic prize money - then it goes for 5 years ... and then they figure out they have no more spectators at the events anymore and turn iby Sascha - Forum
