You guys aren't wrong on costs or availability at all.
The issue I see is that those arguements come from the perspective of a new build. The 35 guys in the class who already spent the money to build their cast machine are protecting that investment. The tractors already exist. I loathe to invalidate them.

If it is that much "progress and technology" that to compete, you'll have to have one, then that isn't really whining is it? It's people saying enough is enough.
LLSS, SF, Light Pro, Lim Pro have good numbers. Leave them the heck alone. If you want to run component, there's classes for that and if you can't hang there, imagine how the cast guys would feel if you mak

Also Miami Valley Antique Pullers in Fletcher. Pretty nice place there, too and a lot of the OSATPA guys will hook both places.

A lot of decent info in this area is shared from PRI. They offer some awesome seminars in particular at the show each year, but sadly, there won't be one next month... Still, the magazine and their emails offer good stories about this sort of thing from time to time.

Not really. Even the smallest fairs still need the property to be mowed, general incidental up-keep, taxes and insurance to be paid and even a part time office-person's salary. If they don't rent out winter storage in the barns, then they earned exactly nothing to pay for those expenses. Most fairs are break-even deals or even take state money to get off the program that they do any

Sat on dad's shoulders at 2.5 years old Armada Fair 1980. I have only the very vaguest memory of back that far, but begged to go to local fair hooks from then on and did with dad all through childhood. My kids have gone to everything from little club hooks all the way to BG. I don't push it on them, it's up to them. My son shows interest in it, the girls, somewhat. That's

Thinking about it I have to agree. I have seen numerous 570s, but never one as a show tractor or working machine.

What you are saying is right, but on watching it again, the graph is plotting against elapsed time, not feet travelled so I get what Brian was trying to say. It is an interesting thing. I'm sure a lot of guys are datalogging that same info and I'd be curious over time what they learn from it.

It had everything. Skis, tiebacks, cage, etc. I can't attest to the quality of it all, but I'd say it did it's job given the way it had been crushed forward and down.

Uh, yeah ok. That's sorta true. There are a few trucks that have a major push down on the front set of tandems. About 50' out you'll see it push, then at the end suddenly settle when the clutch gets pushed in. I am sure that tomorrow I could unearth video evidence of this phenomenon. Has little or nothing to do with front end up and would preserve or even raise the drawbar.

Your best resource will be whomever the contact is for an Association near you (depending upon the level of show you want). They will have a list of sled operators they partner with if they do not have their own, insurance coverage for the competition specifically (I suggest your own general coverage), and a list of classes with guaranteed entries as competitors follow a points series. It will

I wouldn't swear to this, but I think a lot of sled operators prefer the rear location not to be far from the flying debris, but to have the whole works in their line of sight. If something is amiss on the sled, they will see it without having to rely on a tattletale light to alert them.

It's true. OEM parts are going into deep backorders for some things (if GM can't get it made, good luck). For stuff we make locally, the restrictions have crippled or even totally closed some machine shops and there's not a thing we can do about it except try to be patient. It's frustrating as heck. I totally get it.

Not sure the comparison to drag racing is totally accurate. Ask any racer hosed by lane choice. They aren't looking for consistency vs time, they are looking for consistency vs the other side of the track. It's the paradigm of that sport.
Pulling's paradigm has always been variable track conditions since day one. I do see your point about maximum consistency, but a track is
