First question:
1. Name one class that has allowed components that it has killed the class? I’ve heard that argument for 25 years, components will kill the class. Name one in which that has happened?
2. Name one class that has allowed components and the vast majority of competitors in that class regret making the switch?

They have some of the most fair prices anywhere. I’ve seen people go to country music concerts like Buckeye Country Superfest here in Columbus, Ohio and drop $12 a beer and $8 for a bottled water like they had just won the lottery. Pulling fans have been spoiled for a long time. Most county fairs where we run you can get in for $10 or less, $20 a head if you include pit pass. Not very many pl

You make a true statement that if you raise the purse you will lose promoters. I don’t see this as a bad thing. Less hooks would mean more participation. Look no further than Clinton County the year of COVID. In R2 there were so many hooks for certain classes (30+) they've split the region multiple ways depending on the class. So now instead of getting 8-10 to show up you’re getting 3-5

That’s such a loaded question. I can speak most specifically on Ohio and in a broader sense make educated guesses on others. I do know specifically with Illinois it was a clash of personalities between the leader of Illinois (Mike Miller is the name in my head, don’t know if that’s right) and DPS and the roll cage issue was also the straw that kinda broke the proverbial back. I also know that

Looks like some technical difficulties for the pro stock and open supers. As with anything new always going to be some kinks to work out. It was a really well done show up to that point. All the announcers were informed, educated and you could tell they all love pulling. Well done!

Well aware of how it played out. Was just hoping people would dig a little. It’s been on the NTPA site for probably a month now. Just surprised it didn’t garner any conversation on this forum. Personally I think it’s the best thing WPI has done in the last 25 years. You already touched on what he brings to the table. I believe exciting times are ahead with Ned at the forefront.

If you follow the thread below about premiere classes going first (unlimited mods) I believe this subject directly correlates to that. If you have a Super Farm, Light Pro, and a 5.0 Pro all setting beside each other. To the untrained eye (every day fan) they couldn’t tell you the difference. So how do you spell out the difference? The only way to do that is on the track. I am in favor and yo

You don’t go to a concert where the headliner opens the show. If we are talking George Strait he doesn’t open before the opening act. I think that is how pulling has operated unsuccessfully, these other classes would be your opening act with your headliners closing the show. I agree if you sped the show up that line of thinking may work. Unlike a concert pulling has a lot of families with you

It’s the only answer Dick! It is a private contract between two private companies. If you want to know the details go to the horse’s mouth. You’re not going to get the answers you seek on your message board. Private contracts happen every day in this country and no one bats an eye. Since this may or may not affect you, you feel that you have a right or are somehow entitled to know. If you c

Everyone is always talking about the next level. Well this is part of it! NTPA is taking control of their product which they should have done years ago. YouTubers can’t tape the Super Bowl, NHRA finals, bowl games etc. They went along to get along for years and guys profited off of the laissez faire approach. Every other major sanctioning body contracts with networks. You all may not see it

Those may be “alcohol” powered super stocks but only 23 on that list are true open supers that have OHC engines and hemi combustion chambers. The rest are pushrod head tractors. In areas of the country where the HSS is still alive on the region alcohol tractors aren’t allowed to have OHC or hemispheric combustion chambers. So true ULSS left in the country 23-25 tops.

While pro stocks aren’t my favorite class it is one of the most competitive classes anywhere in the country. This is also the farm show where the crowd still appreciates tractors. This fan base at this event relates to tractors. It’s hard to argue with Louisville’s model for success.

So now the WPI solution is to place all the liability on the builders? Good luck with that! So a woman died this past summer, that indeed is a tragedy for the sport as a whole. Why was no criminal investigation done? If for a moment the rumors are true, that they were not installed correctly. If that is true wouldn’t her death then qualify as negligent homicide? The different design options

Well if you have to order parts due to rule changes you want to get your name in line. You clearly aren’t a puller or you would understand this. A lot of parts just aren’t sitting on the shelf ready to ship. So for instance if they outlawed aluminum clutch cans and however many it affects have to order new ones that is a big deal. If they went with the billet caves on turbos guys have to get

No they don’t volunteer Todd, yes on the divisional committees but the NTPA board is voted on. I’ve sat in on enough meetings over the last 20 years to know they don’t allow new blood on. I’ve seen very good friends try to get on only to be black balled. To allow components is not to outlaw cast although I think some very serious questions need answered on what specs are going to be on removin

That failure analysis should be done before we make knee jerk reactions? That makes way to much sense and goes against the grain of how pulling has always done things. Looking those rule proposals over I just shake my head. All this garbage knee jerk reactions. I think it’s sad the lady in Pennsylvania died, but; was a failure analysis done on that turbo? Did the competitor have the cross bo

Until pullers come together and say we are done pulling for pennies what incentive is there to change? The biggest problem in pulling is the pullers themselves. They have way more power than they know but won’t come together and stick together on much of anything. Everyone is worried about their own class and not the sport as a whole.

The only difference between the two at this point is the crank. In earlier years the 8.3 had a flat tappet cam the 8.9 had roller lifters. Don’t go with the earlier 8.9 as the roller lifters are smaller in diameter and the retaining pins are cast into the block not removable like the newer 8.9’s.
4945772 is the part number for the 8.9
4936028 is the part number for the ISC aka 8.3

The rules allowed for technology newer than 1970. What do you mean by that you may ask? Why do we not allow 24 valve technology? I believe at this point all makes of tractors offer a 24 valve head option. Let me also clarify that I believe it should be OEM only 24 valve heads and not recast, billet, aftermarket. Then the issue of chassis, the rules don’t allow for newer rear end designs. As

No they weren’t running the block the tractor came with! That’s why I find the purist argument amusing personally. The most popular John Deere rear ends in use are 4010 and 4020, tell me what years either of those tractors came with an engine bigger than a 404. Show me the notice given by Deere that the 8.1 or big block Deere were factory replacements to a 6.2 or 6.6 Deere motor. I don’t giv
