Is this 3 speed you have from a reputable builder, or is it one cobbled from existing stock parts? A proper 3 speed from a builder (atlas/lemke/profab/beckett/gms) will not be an issue provided the complete setup was installed (input shaft bearing quill is biggest thing). A cobbled setup from stock parts may not handle what you want depending on how it's done.

The biggest issues you will have is cylinder head air flow (cast into head intake manifold) and injector style (limits performance availability). Otherwise probably a great plan. 4030 back plate will work. Limited rpm/fuel/turbo will probably allow this combo to work reasonably well. Open rpm/larger turbo will be where the trouble starts.

"This last spring though I was able to see up close and personal a new JD LLSS being built by a reputable performance shop in the pulling world. Inspecting the chassis it was a full-length component type chassis. Inside the frame rails were 2 transmission slabs... There wasn't even any material connecting them. These slabs were bolted to the frame rail for nothing more than appearance. The e

"I've argued for years that removing the transmission housing should be allowed if a tractor has full length frame rails and that seems like a much more logical step than a component chassis for this class."
Is the intention a Profab or like transmission would be put in place of an original trans?

To answer you properly Dick, there is not a need for them in lower HP classes. But after 17 years working on this Ag chassis, I'd sure love the option to make it easier to deal with!!
You are spot on that more HP does not necessarily make for better show, it is the puller who generally wants more power (we are all guilty).

It's not necessarily about NEED.....it's about desire to have something that isn't a nightmare to work on. Why does everyone go so sideways about a component chassis? If you've had the pleasure of working with a component tractor, you already know what I am saying. Why penalize someone for wanting something that is designed for service? Just because we have always done somethi

I agree with all of your statements.......except this one:
"there would be no need for component chassis"
Completely disagree. HP would still be huge and driveline failures would have still driven this issue.
In addition to that a component chassis is desirable for many service and parts availability related reasons. A component chassis is not the main issue with pulling today, and ther

Anything 20 series won't cut it.
Gotta have a 30/40 series 8 speed powershift housing at least. And this will only allow a 3 speed Profab box.
50/55 series 15 speed powershift housing will allow the 5 speed Profab box.

Some of us were pretty damn grateful to be able to watch a live pull online when there was no way we could be there.
Same goes for Arcola IN pull.
Why are you bagging on them so bad?
I see this coverage and free stream as a step in the right direction.

2.4 is generally a good size.
The lock to lock is more accurately determined by the cylinder bore & rod size, travel length of cylinder, as well as the steering arm length on your spindle.
It's not as simple as saying XX size helm will always be XX turns lock to lock.

For the record, Super Farm and many types of Hot Farm are already past that 1500 mark.
But I'll go a step further.......almost ANY class should have the option to be component. No reason to punish someone who wants to build for serviceability and parts commonality/availability. That is called spending wisely.

$40 a session for live stream seems like enough.
The argument about royalties and everyone in the chain taking a cut....that is entirely possible, I don't know. The argument about camera and equipment cost to allow a livestream...... I will simply say this - they have been filming this pull for many years (on screens in the building, replays, DVD sales), cameras being present isn't

"Double kudos for making the pictures so small on the website you can't actually read the wording on them."
Couldn't agree more. Important information and it is not presented in a format that is useful. A little disappointing.
Also the wording of these rules is very confusing at times.
I can see some pullers/teams having to do this at least 3 times (beginning with last August a

"I think that the statement that pulling has to many classes needs to be looked at. It's really a 2 fold issue. Yes, at the national level I have to agree, we don't need to add anymore classes to an already confusing mixture of classes."
"However on the flip side of the same issue is state/regional pulling. Without the HF, Lt.PS, 4.1, LLSS, 2 engine mod, and so on there is NO state/r

It weighs 6000 (sometimes) with zero weights and me on it. No 30.5's for me....never has been.
I'm not interested in making a swiss cheese tractor.
Plan is to jump up to a different (heavier weight & larger ci) class rather than spend a fortune on trying to lose weight. That whole concept just doesn't work for me anymore. It sounded like fun several years ago......it's

"Back in the 1960s, the NTPA was formed precisely because different areas had different rules for similar classes . A guy was legal in one town but not in the next town over.
In the early days of NTPA, this was corrected with consistent class weights and safety rules."
Fair point.
Unfortunately it seems exceptionally difficult to do that with this class.

Removing cast to the point of making it unsafe doesn't make it right.
Like I said, different regions/areas and different club/association dynamics are what drives the different weight limits.
Just back off and leave it alone.
Are we trying to grow pulling or are we trying to create division among pullers?

55 series head with stock 404 bore won't work......unless you notch the sleeves for the valves.....and even then, the question is what benefit is the larger valve/flow when you are shrouding the outer edges so badly. This head obviously will work great if running 466/7.6L.
Yes, the 6.8L engine has a nice bore stroke combo, but finding the head with the bolt on box type intake is very diff

The synchro has a dry clutch from the factory, saves you buying a bell housing for that purpose. I stand corrected these are all wet clutch.
You will not be able to do a Profab box trans inside the housing you are speaking of.
