Yea I was pretty sure he sent them elsewhere for the steel nose then did the grinding himself.

Yes I was referring to the older 466/531/619.
I had been told by salvage yards that the old cam cores were in high demand because the new aftermarket cams were junk and had soft lobes, is this accurate?
It seemed like it was always common to have a steel nose put in a cam and straight cut timing gears when getting a regrind, at least some shops recommended it.

A couple outfits making the conversion kits for the cummins in a Ford. There’s a place in pennsylvania that makes kits to put the dt360 and 466 in the Ford trucks. Carson stauffer diesel I believe is the outfit.

Battle of the bluegrass used to have a 466 farm stock class with a turbo limit. They also run some stuff in southern Kentucky, I believe that group is Usa pullers.

You can also weld the clutch and pto hub together to make a 4 disk wet clutch and modify the valve body. I’ve heard with some floater machining you can make this setup a 5 disk.

It looks like on a 619 if you go from bore of 5.12” to 5” the ci would be 589.not sure how much smaller you can go on bore?

On the 531 or 619? Was thinking of using the 619 with crank driven oil pump and making the bore a bit smaller…

If you didn’t want to cut grooves in sleeves, you could get a head gasket from sealtec with drop in fire rings

Not sure as I would worry about the cam as much as the crank gear, wouldn’t hurt to weld gear to crank in about 3 places

8.1 sleeves are the same as the 404/466 sleeves as far as design. Call any shop for head gasket/fire ring kit and they will tell you size for the grooves. Are you planning on running it in stock form as 496 ci then? Were you going to grind cam or leave it stock?

Northern tool lists some too, I believe system accessories is out of business. I’m running a shurflo on my jd with a pump and it seems to be fine. Make sure if you run that style you get the continuous run, not the on demand. I think you also want the viton seals. If I was doing over again I would run a fass, airdog, raptor, or aeromotive pump. With the fass you could go With or without built in

You don’t seem to see that hot farm class anywhere from central Ohio on East. I thought maybe when ostpa and ntpa separated Years ago the ostpa May add the hot farm class to get more brush pulling open pullers to fit a sanctioned class, but it didn’t happen.
The classic super stock class has been around 20 years that I can remember , probably longer And originated as a central Ohio class. The

Llss is 6500. What all has been done to tractor? You will probably either be in farm stock or some open class. Farm stock is not stock anymore. It takes some work, especially if running open speed. No 466 classes around that I’m aware of other than the 6500 light limited

That just depends, if it was first year or two of production it could be small bolt pattern and possibly cam driven oil pump. Later were crank drive oil pump and big bolt pattern. You can check engine serial number to verify oil pump style or remove tach drive cover on right rear side of engine to look in.
