I do not know the weights offhand. 361 bore is 4 1/8", 407 bore is 4.321" ( sometimes referenced as 4 5/16").

May depend on the turbo & pump rules for your Profarm class in your area, but here's some basics to look at for a 407 block.
First off, take a look at the casting number of your engine block. It is located on the LH side of the block, underneath the front tappet access cover. The casting number should be 670000Cx, with the x being a 1, 2, 3, or 4. The best is a 670000C4 block. Next is

A reman 1.25" wide oil pump can be had at your CaseIH dealer. I have ordered one before for a 1660 combine w/ a Dt466. I can't recall the full part number, but it either starts out with 234xxxCx or 243xxxCx. The 735259C1 & 735250C1 numbers are 7/8 & 1" oil pumps from CaseIH (or I think those are the numbers, its been a while) but I know a 1.25" one can be had thru CaseIH, not just thru a

There are still "Division 2" classes at all our pulls, usually 5000, 5500, 6000, 6500, and maybe ever so often a 7000 lb class, but, there's maybe three tractors in each class on a regular basis. 5500-6500 are the most common weight classes.

A 3LM-466 or an S2E will both mount about the same on a 407, so they'll both take about the same amount of work. Your 1256 now probably has the stock 3LD-229 Schwitzer turbo. Most 1256's used the early style 361/407 exhaust manifold that is a T4 pattern turbo bolt pattern, then sandwiched a approx 1/2" thick T4 to T3 adapter plate between the manifold & the Schwitzer turbo. 856 clutch is only a 12" clutch, so yes, an upgrade should be done, stock won't hold it. Don't mess around or skimp on safety, get yourself a SFI steel double-disc flywheel/clutch assembly. May be overkill performance wise, but you won't have to worry about it not holding, and you won't have to worry about the stock flywheel exploding because of excessive heat from clutch sl

To try & get this back on track:
One other way to look at it, is that there is a pretty large gap between the 3000 RPM Open farm tractors in IA, SD, and NE, and the "Hot Farm" classes that usually consist of 3x3 chargers (or maybe bigger) and P pumps, and perhaps bigger cubes. So, is there a fit/demand for another class in between those two?? And if so, what kind of rules would we be looking

It's one thing when one group runs nothing but newer Baumgart sleds & does 21mph, try that on an old progressive sled & all you'll get done is clutch before the 75' mark to try over in a different gear!

I've looked into this & talked w/ some from other states running similar engines, but with slightly bigger turbos. One turbo I looked at was a Borg Warner S300. There's three box turbo's they offer, one w/ a 2.36" intake, the other two w/ 2.6" intakes. The guy I talked to has an Allis, he was running the smaller S300, he liked it better than the 3LM. The M&W turbo setup was designed to work with the stock 806/856 hoods, so no additional holes needed to be cut for the exhaust. If you go to the IH turbo setup from a 1206, 1256, or 1456, you will want a hood from a 1206 or 1256, or you'll have to cut a new hole in your existing 856 hood.
A 1206 manifold, with a 3LM turbo bolted to it, should be very close to lining up with the existing

The piston oil cooling jets were not part of the M&W kit for the 361/407 engines. The block casting number is on the left hand side of the block, right below the front tappet access cover. The casting number should read 670000CX, the X being either a 1, 2, 3, or 4.

Just remove the linkage that moves the dump valve. Easiest is to remove the 6" long 1/4" fine thread bolt & clevis that goes from the clutch linkage to the dump valve actuating linkage. After that, the dump valve will no longer function when the clutch is depressed.

Just a thought, but on your MCV valve, is the linkage for the dump valve still hooked up? Its virtually impossible to adjust the dump valve correctly with a double disc clutch, and for the sake of the life of the T/A in a puller, is better off unhooked anyways. Perhaps, if the tractor had a stock clutch before, that the dump valve is still hooked up, but because of the clutch adjustment for the
