I used a 90 degree gearbox from a AC chopper, It is larger than Roberts but works nicely I too just have a slip fit pipe pivot with no bearing, two grease fittings and it turns and holds position.

I am building a open
RPM 466 ci 3X3 Binder engine. I have a Hypermax belt drive oil pump. I want to run the truck filter base. It is set up to run about 100psi. What should I run for filters? Is there any aftermarket stainless screen filters that will work?

You will need a 66-86 series engine back plate. The front engine cover from a 312-360 at engine is the right width for the frame

I would like to build a oil pan for my 400 series binder engine. The sheet metal is easy for me but making a thick pan rail will be harder. Does anyone make a steel pan rail?

I built two turbocharged diesel 301s Used Clark head gaskets on both of them. Oringed the block with the Iskinderian o ring tool ARP head studs and have not had any issues.

For those that have never been on a Wild ride, maybe a suspension does not make sense .. I have watched and been on a "Wild Ride", bent both front rims and knocked the driver out. I see this as a safety issue. The tractor I am currently building WILL have suspension on the front.

I was in 6th grade when I drove Dads MM U to the Walworth county fair for the pull. I must not have done well as I have no memory of where I placed. That would have been in 1959 or 1960. That makes 59 years of being obsessed with the sport. Pulling has been part of my life since that time.

Heating any fluid will cause it to be less dense, thus lighter. Although this is usually a small amount of expansion this does make a difference in how many BTUs per measure of volume.

Just build one sometime. Even on a tight budget with some used parts it is expensive.

We had a wild ride 3 years ago with the open diesel tractor. The driver got knocked out from hitting his head 9 times on the cage. I got a road track Kerky seat with helmet bolsters th keep away from the side to side hits. Anyone else have similar concerns?

It has been a long time ago. I think it was .041 wire. The head gaskets were thicker but I would have to search my records to be exact

Its interesting that this came up again. Since my original posts I repaired two 301 turbo diesel pullers gasket issues. I got a Iskenderian block groove tool. In the tractor I grooved the blocks, Installed wire and used a Clark copper head gasket. Along with ARP studs. Years later both tractors have not had a single issue with head gasket failure.

The 34 ford would be a kingpin spindle, not a ball joint one, correct?

The one I made looks just fine, even from 3” away, thank you very much. Everybody wants to complain about the cost of pulling, then go blow money on billet aluminum helmet hooks that cost 5X what you could make one for. It’s a helmet holder, not a crankshaft.
You are assuming Thai I complain about the cost of pulling. I assure you I do not. I have fabricated almost every struct

You may also want to go with a bigger input shaft.
Sorry, the input shaft on the 766 is the same as the one in a 966-1066-1466 The 1566-1586 has the larger input shaft. Just remember that if you install a 1566-86 TA you need to change the constant mesh gears to maintain the split between TA and direct. (dont ask how I know this)

Thanks for all the good advise, I ordered two of them from Paulson Performance.. PS I tried to make them out of bailer twine and a used condom. But it was not stiff enough to hold my helmet up.
