Sounds interesting, how are you going to monitor engine displacement?

As normal for this board, everyone gangs up on the guy who doesn't just accept the norm and asks questions.
I never said I would not use safety equipment; I was merely trying to understand the chances that something would happen that necessitated the use of the equipment.
I would hope that someone who uses engineering in their handle would understand risk assessment.

To evaluate the need for a safety item or practice, takes three things.
1) Failure mode that is being evaluated
2) Occurrence or probability that the failure will occur, under the conditions that are present.
3) Consequence of the failure mode.
The responses given so far could easily drive everyone to just stay in bed and hope there isn't a house fire, earthquake or meteor

Oliver 1950T 5.9 Cummins Pulling tractor. Class points winner at both NWPTTP and WPTTP clubs in 2025. The class is called Light Tough Farm and is a 7500# 360 in3 P7100 pump Borg S257SE turbo 3000 RPM class. Lots of work done to this tractor and engine. Runs 20 MPH down the track. Weighs 6250# with room to lighten. Excellent set of non-cut Firestone 151 18.4x38 road worn tires. Weights not i

We have a couple of classes in our club that are limited to 3000 RPM, diesel box turbo classes, wheely bars, steel flywheels, scatter blankets etc. There is a push to require ladder bars and fire suits. Can anyone cite an accident or failure on a tractor in a similar class where ladder bars or fire suits would have prevented injury? And in those instances, did the tractor involved have the equipm

The biggest missing piece is personal connection, in those other sports you mention, the casual viewer does not care about what brand of machine the competitor is piloting, they care about the pilot. John Force, Denny Hamlin, Ryan Blaney, Anton Brown etc. are the draw to the track. The days of arguing about your Ford, versus my Chevy versus the neighbors Mopar are long gone. So how do we make pul

We pull with Northwest Pennsylvania Truck and Tractor Pullers, also Western Pennsylvania Truck and Tractor pullers, you can find both clubs on FB.
Rules summarized.
Safety equipment- roll bars, wheelie bars, clutch blanket, helmet, air guillotine (on diesels), steel flywheel, RPM sensor (3000 max) etc.

You obviously do not understand dimensions on parts, everything has a tolerance, with no tolerance stated 3-3/4" would be 3.7500000000000" and impossible dimension to achieve. If you want to discuss this, further feel free to talk to me in person.

I understand what you are saying, but there needs to be a tolerance on the dimension, such as 3-3/4" +/- 1/8". Most people only worry about if the hook fits in the hole, if it fits it ships.

It won't change, but the idea of welding a tab on the hook to prevent it from coming out is flawed. It would only work if you put a limit on the maximum size of the hole, which no organization does.

Keeping costs in check is a missing goal of many organizations, pulling, farming, schools, government, families etc. Instead, all I hear is how can we raise more money or charge more money.

I looked at some a data I found a couple of years ago, and it said the DT360 weighed 250# more than the Cummins 5.9. I have not weighted them myself so I cannot validate the numbers.

This is interesting, we have a class in western Pa for 360 in3 tractors, that has good participation across many manufacturers, but no John Deere machines. This would be a good recipe for a competitive John Deere in our class.

It seems to be regional, in our area UPS is generally the best, but not perfect. For small things, I have good luck with USPS. The worst is the low-cost shipping companies that subcontract to USPS, tracking is almost impossible, and delivery can take days longer than promised. FedEx is a real crapshoot, and if I have a choice, I will not use them.

It's for a pump with an originally CCW (CASE) cam rotation, being used in a CW (IH, JD) application. Engine firing order is still 1-5-3-6-2-4
So the cam can turn either rotation successfully?

There is an ad currently on this site for IH parts that lists fuel lines with the unusual firing order, I would assume it is for an inline 6. Maybe it is a mistake?

It needs to be a spring loaded mechanism that you set and then release with a solenoid... Like a trigger.
How do you down shift a set up like that?
by
RCP
-
Pulling Forum
I used a linear actuator on an Oliver 2 speed, it was slow to shift and I couldn't find a solenoid with enough travel to make the shift.
