The missing link in this discussion is what failure mode is the concern? Wheel bolts breaking, rim breaking around the hub, hub breaking, axle breaking, axle housing breaking or something else. All of these failure modes have been seen and the solution would/could be different depending on the failure mode and the configuration of the tractor in question.

Are there any national tractor classes that allow common rail fuel injection equipment?
If common rail were permitted, wouldn't that eliminate the runaways caused by diesel fuel injection system failures?

It was a just a comment, they worked really hard to load the tractor and could have been pinched between the tractor and the forklift, GET A LIFE.

I was surprised the crew didn't have a winch in the trailer to pull the tractor.

Thanks, after looking at the cylinder bore in the block that burnt and the rest of the cylinders, I am going to use a different block.

We are running a 5.9 Cummins diesel in our pulling tractor and have burnt a piston. I believe the bore damage is too severe for an overbore, is a sleeve repair a good approach?
Any personal experience with a sleeve repair in a Cummins 5.9?
Thanks

You could look at a Honda Pioneer, it is 1000CC and dual clutch (no belt), they have a rear dump bed and are a little under 10 ft long.

Here is a spreadsheet that shows hole size and number of holes, versus total flow area in inches, no guarantees.

Is your engine turbocharged, if not there is no displacement limit.

I suppose I could try to find a green White 60, it came from the factory with a 4BT. They are too heavy stock, but could probably strip it down.

I like Oliver tractors, but I can't think of one that would fit this class without a lot of work. An engine transplant such as a Cummins 4bt would be a good fit to the class engine rules.

No matter what system is used, it takes people, internet access and dedication to make it work. Our organization was supposed to use it, but it fell apart.

The advantage of being computer controlled, is the load could be reviewed after the pull to determine if things were done correctly. Accusations of cheating by sled operators is nothing new and having only mechanical systems does not eliminate those accusations.

How about a traction dynamometer, with computer controls you could make the load curve as you wanted.

A switch doesnt care if it is 12 volt or 125 volt, the thing that matters is amperage, just make sure what you pick has sufficient current rating.

The only two times I have been DQ'd it was for speed with my newly installed wheel driven speedometer, so I took it off. I am sure I could have gotten used to it, but I found myself watching the readout when I should have been watching the track. Lots of people use them, but I have not used one since then.

I am a brush / antique puller, there is always a dispute on the accuracy of the scales being used at the pull. My biggest complaint is scales that change calibration during the event, I believe this is generally caused by soft and unlevel ground. I have been to pulls were attempts were made to level the scales with blocking, although it was an honest attempt, I do not believe it to be sustainable

The one thing I have not seen being considered is the fans at the pull, everyone is talking about this from a competitors standpoint.
The fans want to see a local tractor compete, they want to see how a local guy stacks up against the out of towners. The promoter knows this and likely decided to make an allowance so that the local guy could compete. Having the local guy pull exhibition is not

There are some good looking 20.8 x 38 tires in the for sale ads, that have quite a few stress cracks or perhaps dry rot.
Is there a repair for these defects? Perhaps an epoxy or caulking that will stay in the defects?

I pull with some IH's with DT360s in similar weight classes but limited to 3000 RPM, but they are using 656 and 706 frames, they run as high a 25 MPH, which works out to 24:1 final ratio. I am not sure that helps you very much, but it is a data point.
Do you think a 400 rear end and transmission will hold up?
