I'm not sure how Wilmington is the home town of the NTPA but we were reading the results on our way home from the pull, that's not as fast as NTPA but still pretty fast in my book. Good show, good equipment. I'm an NTPA puller but you have give credit where credit is due, they had a good event.

You have freedom of speech but in certain places and intansnces you will suffer consequences, here you can get deleted because this is a privately owned site. Someone can stomp on the American Flag...that is a freedom...but they can also get their butt kicked by some former Marine for expressing that freedom, that is a consequence.

The Indiana State Fair was one of the pulls that got me to love pulling. We used to show horses and I would be at the fair for that but would always gravitate to the machinery area and pulling strip. Its a shame that these things are going away.

Bob,I think that is part of the problem, last year they didn't save his spot for him. They ended up squeezing him in next to us...he was not a happy camper at that point.

Sascha,
For me personally it comes down to knowledge and time. I'm barely computer literate enough to get on these sites and converse with people let alone work through a program on a CNC machine center. Secondly I have absolutely no knowledge of machining in general...my level of this is using a drill press. I don't really want to spend the time learning these things at 64 years o

XXX,
We are very fortunate to be able to do what we do. We run two tractors for several reasons, first we can afford it if just barely, second my wife likes to compete as much as I do,third we feel it is important to support the Mod classes as much as we can and I guess fourth would be that if we are going to travel all over the midwest why not haul two if we can swing it. Could we run one tra

While I agree 100% with most of what you said I do disagree with the cost comment. The cost are to me as big of an issue as keeping the engines together. Think about the cost of replacing $15,000 turbos (low end prices from what I'm told) two or three times a summer particularly for teams that have more than one tractor. These guys are looking at spending upwards of $60,000 a summer just

I guess the original post has more to do with the organizations getting the word out there that there are indeed some very good young competitors rather than that there not being any young pullers. Yes there are a lot of very good young pullers and yes it could be a good thing to promote them more.
The one thing that I think is different now as opposed to years ago is that most young people

Didn't find one like you described but I found something similar. Ozniun.Com, bi-color LED bolt. They are pretty small and I'm not sure how they work.

Dick,
I honestly believe that some day the very top classes will not have enough competitors to maintain classes. I feel that at some point there will only be a few of the very best in the most powerfull classes,Unlimited Mod,USS and Heavy DSS. I could see a day when the few that are left just do exibition passes and the rest of an event will consist of some of the classes that are maintaining

I really think people would watch the very top level of vehicles regardless the numbers...even to the point of just being exibition passes. People like to see the top levels just to expiriance that unbelievable power that these vehicles make.

Andy Deane Don Deane's son ran a 2WD truck with a Diamond - T cab for quite a few years in RN2 and Hoosier State pulling. Don't know what year or model it was. It hasn't been out on the track for 8 or 10 years.

When I first started pulling a lot of pulls were doing the Calcutta thing, the biggest issue I remember was the time it took to auction all of the tractors. Seems to me that it took a LOT of time to accomplish.

There have been several El Comino's in the pulling world. The Baby Blue Knight has been running in OH for many many years. There was a newer style one the ran the NTPA circuit for several years. The last time I saw it Russell Korff ran it, I can't remember the name of the truck right now. I think the one Russell had started out as Ken Lamont's truck out of Illinois.

We have one of Bill Vories chassis, (the one with the black roll cage that he won 5 or 6 unlimited titles with). One of Bills earlier mod chassis went to Larry Piekarski,it then went to the Barga family and will be an Alky SS. I believe the last one that Bill had went to the Ferry Bros in MA.

I'm not sure that using the telahandler to place the trucks would save much in the way of time. All of the Mods and 2WD have to have a support vehicle that would need to be brought out after the truck or mod was in place but also gotten out of the way after starting. It would help greatly with the fumes in the building though.
As a mod puller myself I was wondering if some of the guys

MGC, the Earth will last for ever whether life will is up in the air. I do believe that Al Gore told us that the ice caps would be gone several years ago. This Earth is more resilient than most people realize. Besides the US could go total green but what is going to happen to India and China, the worst countries in the would for the Earth?

I can't speak for Ryan but I can tell you that he really likes his tractor. I would guess that he is just up grading tires or getting rid of an older set. Something I should think about doing seeing as how Ryan kicks my butt on a regular basis, very competitive family.

I think most organizations won't let you move weight if you stop and back up,if you drop the first hook yes but not if just stop before 75' or 100' what ever the rules are in the organization you run with. I could be wrong ...anybody know for sure?

We went to a pull a few years ago at Hudsonville, MI to run our two tractors in the NTPA Lt.Unlimited class. My wife Tarry was the first hook of the entire show, the track was way better than anyone had thought. When she left the line the tractor did a major wheel stand, broke a wheely bar went for the sidelines hard, she had no choice but to let out of the throttle quickly. When she did that it

We had a case this summer where my wife ran first made a monster pass so the sled was changed. We dropped to last as there weren't a lot of tractors. The track was one that we knew didn't hold up very well so we moved a significant amount of weight back. The tractor made a nice pass, she won but by just a little. Had we not moved the weight she would likey have been way back in the

Most manufacturers will have specs on pressure as well as how much vacuum a hose can withstand. Also as mentioned before you can put a coil type spring inside the hose but be sure it doesn't cause too much resistance in the hose as it effectively reduces the ID of the hose.

That sounds like a big difference in torque. My Father-in-Law has several Kubota tractors, his first one was 53 HP but had almost no torque it had to be run at almost full throttle to do any work at all. The others had way more torque but not a lot more HP and would do work just off idle. Just a different kind of power.

Just to be clear I simply went to the tractor data page look at the weight and the gross HP. I wasn't looking to get super to technical but was just interested in a few numbers. I would agree with you the it should likey be drawbar HP not gross in this thread that Lewis started. I thought it was an interesting as it would pertain to our pulling world.
