I'll put my guess in at 400-425 hp with the 3LM.

I ran a driver-controlled air shutoff, as well as the hookup to the sled, but the question is, could I react faster than the blowup in this video? I'm not sure I could have. My first reaction would probably have been to yank back on the throttle, thinking something happened to my deadman springs. By that time, the clutch would have blown already.

There is no better box built than a Matco. Compare them for yourself side by side and you will see the difference. You don't have to buy a new one- there's plenty of used floating around at decent prices. Buy one big enough- it will last a lifetime. I've had a large two bay riding in my truck for 12 years with no slide or lock issues.

I drag raced for a number of years, still do occasionally, and there's always an entry fee. For the faster bracket classes, it's around $50-75, and pays around $1000 to win. Depending on the track, they might pay back 8 places, from 50-100% of the purse. Some tracks do charge the the racers for admission, but the entry fees are lower, so it balances out. Of course, for that entry fee, y

That's probably right, since either will fit in a 66 clutch housing with the same starter (I think), but the 66 ring gear was quite a bit bigger than the 560 ring gear I used, so even if it would fit in the 560 clutch housing (don't think it will), I sure wouldn't think there would be a starter that would fit in the factory hole to fit the 66 ring gear.
I don't know if the

Doesn't a 1066 use a 14" clutch? Ain't no way that's gonna work. Easy way is use a 966 or equivalent flywheel for a 12" clutch, and turn down the outside to fit the 560 ring gear. Then the stock starter will work. Don't know what the spacing will need to be to get back far enough to reach the starter, but the diameter will be right.

I would guess that all 9 of the outer blowers are for looks only. They also have throttle plates in the hats, which are useless on a diesel.

Lots of good information there, we really don't need to waste more of Morgans bandwidth beating this dead horse more.

I haven't seen a 400 series motor put in a 660, but I see no reason why it can't be done. Everything said above should apply. The front bolster will get in the way the same as on my 560W, so the frame and hood will have to be around 6" longer. You will have a bit more clearance under the hood since the 660 sheet metal is taller. As far as the rear being strong enough, I guess it depends

Ya got me there- I didn't know there were two different splines. I just ordered a 986 clutch and it fit fine. The 986 clutch is the same as the 560, just stiffer springs, since a 986 has a hydraulic assisted clutch. The 560 alignment tool will work, or you can just put the pressure plate and disk on the input shaft, and bolt the tractor back together, then bolt the pressure plate to the flyw

It will not work with a regular 966 flywheel. Fred said 966 or 986 HYDRO flywheel, so that may work. I didn't know the hydro flywheel was different.
Here's the dimensions you need to know: If using a regular 966 flywheel, it needs to move rearward 1 1/2" to meet the input shaft. This can be done by using a 1 1/2" spacer with a stock rear plate like I did, and move the 560 ring gear

With all the mods you're talking about, you're gonna be well over 400 hp. I don't think I'd want to try that with a stock 560 rear.

I'm doing it now. The best way is a custom flywheel, but it's a lot of money. The cheap way is to cut the 466 flywheel to fit the 560 ring gear, and use a spacer to put the flywheel in the right place. You need to machine the 466 flywheel to the inside diameter of the 560 gear, and sink the rear face of the gear 5/8" deeper than the 466 gear was. The spacer will need to be 1 1/2" thick,

Here's what ended my pulling today. Fortunately it happened where I was parked instead of backing up to the sled, or worse. I have a 2 disk clutch with a stiff pressure plate, but it's been in the tractor for 4 years without a problem. I guess fatigue got the best of it, and I'm not comfortable replacing it with another stock used part. Has this happened to any of you, and what wou

I was told that a 986 had the stiffest pressure plate for a 12" clutch, since they had hydraulic assist. That's what I'm using in my 560 with a 414. I'm sure someone knows more than me about it.

Yeah, they sure do, "ithinkiknow". Thanks for all the help. The PTO won't handle it, and in case you misread, this is a Farm Stock tractor. Don't quite have the budget to pull the engine and rent dyno time. If I did, I might be a pro puller like you?

Timing is at 35, has worked well up till now. I'll back off the fuel, but sure thought it could use this much. With a smaller charger I was running way too hot, advancing the timing helped. Wish I had a sled at home to make some test passes!

The sheet with the pump says 425cc, but the builder said it may flow a bit more if maxxed out, which is what I did. I bought the tractor with the pump on it, so I have no way of telling where it was when I started. The injectors are the later style big ones. Pump adjustment is all I changed from the last pull, so I don't think I have other issues. I'm feeding the pump with a large Aerom

If a few of you would take the time to read this and give me a hand, it would be appreciated. Been brush pulling an 1175 Case for the past couple of years. This year we're sanctioned with the IPA, so the combo changed a bit. Mine is a 504, heads cleaned up, Crane cam of unknown specs, 4 x .020 injectors, .093 lines, good pump. We can run any turbo, but it has to be slugged to 2.33 inlet. I h

I use gaskets when possible- makes me feel better. Nothing wrong with silicone if used properly. I like ultra blue and ultra copper. Read the label- some silicones say "not impervious to gasoline or oil". That means oil will disolve it, and at best, you will have a leak. At worst, it will get into and plug anything small. Don't want to argue with the post below, but hardware store silicone w

Been pulling Farm Stock for the last few years with a 3LM466, tractor runs good, but could use a little more, of course. Rules for this season are any turbo, but no bigger than 2.33" inlet. 505" limit (I'm at 504) and 10% over on RPM, which is about 2700 or so for me. I have a HX52 I want to try, will have to slug the inlet. Exhaust housing is small, a #16, but with the low RPM, I think it w
