In Indiana, HSTPA ran what they called a "stock" class in the mid 1970s that was a forerunner of pro stock. The class ran at maybe 9000 lbs, single charger, definitely much more than stock.

How much moveable weight do most Pro Stocks have now? With component chassis, if there is at least 500 or 1,000 lbs of ballast, what would be the ramification of dropping the weight to 9,500 or even 9,000 lbs?

Are these rules any different than other orgs around the midwest and south (Mid South, KTPA, BoB, etc)?

In order to differentiate Pro Stocks from the other iterations (light pro/limited pro/ even the 5.0 Regional pro), should the Pro Stocks be allowed to run 30.5 tires?
That would add a visible difference from the other forms of Pro Stock. They certainly have the power to effectively use the 30.5s.
At that point, what, other than a single exhaust would distinguish a PS from a SS?

To me it just seems like organizations are just putting their foot on the neck of people innovating, investing their time and money and them being told - well, too bad.
Seems like this sport, as with any other Motorsport, you innovate to gain that competitive advantage. When did become such a problem? I refer back to the “woke” comments listed above.

Logan, I've heard the setting for a twd is about the same as for a 3-engine mod because of hitch height.
How does the sled setting differ between a twd/RN mod and a pro stock?
Would 30.5s on a pro stock mean only one extra block on the sled?

I'm not talking about Cain @ nearly same weight or East Coast where it's 9500 vs 10000 but not GN caliber Supers.
What I'm asking is a PS like Schmucker, Simon, or Conny @ 10000 lbs against Blackbourn, GALOT, Ross, Bone Twister etc. at 8000 lbs.

I was going to title this Pro Stocks vs Unlimited Super Stocks, but since there is enough data that diesel or alcohol are basically equal, we'll include both.
A few years ago, Badger State let some of the alky SS pull in their class like Hulls. I think the uss ran at their normal 8000lb weight.
Since then, allowing for tech and tire advances, can a 10000 PS and 8000 SS run together and

For people around in the 1970s, do you remember the cartoon psa's like Conjunction Junction and Interplanet Janet? They had one about how a bill becomes a law.
I wish there was something like that for NTPA.I thought proposals went up through divisional committees, or were discussed and voted on during the meeting Enderle weekend (subject to Executive Board approval).

The Stanford tractor pulling club had an incident last week that embarrassed the university.
A national tech official was invited by the John Deere Society campus chapter to give a lecture about turbos and the new Nichols twd tires. A bunch of mask-wearing students interrupted him and wouldn't shut up so he could speak. Then the DEI official sided with the students.

On the track, what is the difference between the sled setting for an NTPA/PPL 510 ci Hot Farm and a Badger State/WTPA 466 Hot Farm?
Is it one block? One gear? Is it close enough that 100 or 150 lbs more to the 466 would basically equalize things?

I watched the Beer Money podcast about the legalized betting announcement several days lafter it aired. There were several champion-level pullers plus the regular hosts of the podcast.

What about when the puller owns the sponsor? For example, Jim owns Jim's Farm. He sponsors his tractor with Jim's Farms painted on both tractor and hauler. How does this situation work?
One general question - Are there any common tax mistakes newer pullers tend to make that costs them tax $, and could be avoided by setting up their pulling operati

Might it be that the tire manufacturer is a major sponsor for NHRA and Nascar?
To your point, in the 1990s Hoosier was allowed in Nascar for a brief period. It didn't end well and they were out of the sport quickly.
Hoosier is the primary supplier for the most big dirt late model series. The problems the racers have with cost and supply is much worse than what pulling is

Every class is a horsepower chase! I have never heard any puller say "I'm trying to make less horsepower this year". Some try to make the OTHER guy make less by limiting them or ruling them out. Guess they want to dummy the show down to their budget.
You're also forgetting it's a competition for the pullers as well as a show for the fans. They try to get better each

To kind of elaborate on your last statement, Gregg Randall has pushed hard to have three mod classes because he has promoters that want a mod class and either don't want the expense of the top two mod classes or their dates won't allow it because they are already scheduled somewhere else. I think that is the only reason that the Lt Unlimited lasted as long as it

I freely admit my favorite class is the NTPA Unlimited modified class. However, it's super expensive, several pullers in the class are getting older, and sleds seem pretty tapped out at the moment. PPL has lost Boyds, Sheltons, and Longs so their mod class is down also. The NTPA 7500 4-engine has better numbers (the 3 hemi 14-71 combo is pretty good there).
I will enjoy the unlimiteds whi
